If you want a decent chance of finding opals that come in small pockets you should pay where the pockets are exposed for you. This is not a pay and take away dig zone. It's expensive gemstones made so by not everybody finding as many as they would like to. I tell folks 1 in 4 are happy. 1 in 10 should be ahead of the game. It's not selling opal and there are plenty of addicts to not miss the naysayers. There is not a day I pay (and I have my own claims) that I don't see at least one digger get more than they put in. Usually way less, but I've seen days nobody left without ounces.
