The Alamo! ;D I'm not familiar with the rock hounding sites there, but I know that there are quite a few fossil sites nearby. There's a place called "The Quarry" there, but it's no longer a quarry. It's one of the neatest outdoor malls in the city! When it WAS a quarry back in the 1700's, I believe the Alamo's rocks came from there.
Llana? If you read this, are you familiar with the San Antonio area?

Thanks agatenut, I like to go find petrified wood in the parks, I was just feeling a little left out 'cause you guys get to go to arkansas an everywhere Agate and jasper while i sit here and pick up pieces of old wood to tumble. I swear SA must be cool economicly but I sure is lame for rock hounds...

Three Rivers is about an hour drive south of San Antonio. There's lots of agate there and around the choke canyon state park area. You should plan a day trip.

Pet wood is awesome stuff! I've talked to people about both, agates and pet wood and many of them prefer finding pet wood over agate any day.
