And you can probably guess the rest. It's been all of two months now and I have four 3 lb. barrels (Thumler), have been baptised in Searles Lake, mailman hates me due to heavy packages from E-bay, I feel sad when I get home and there aren't any packages waiting for me, I have invested in a quantity of dinosaur poop to polish and give away as Christmas presents. Does this sound familiar to anyone here?

Welcome to the board. The addiction sounds very familiar. I was just getting teased the other day how I have never been an impulsive buyer of anything before. Even the first cheap tumbler I got, I debated back and forth about getting. Now... well, I don't need to get into the details.

Pinemountain, Yep...you're on that steep slide and now you can't get off! Enjoy the ride...it's so FUN!!! Sounds like Santa's going to stuff the stockings with Dino Poop instead of Coal this year. Welcome Aboard. Steve

How do you know if it's dino poop?

Hmmm, I guess I don't really KNOW it's dino-poop (coprolite) but it was advertised as such and I am willing to take it on faith. It's not an uncommon item. I guess if it's not legit, well it will still make fun gifts since neither I nor my recipients will know the difference. I guess there probably wouldn't be a specific test for it (carbon dating maybe?) since it's fossilized and could be made up of alot of different things. I started it to tumbling last night, small pieces, hope to be ready in time for Christmas. I saw someone's very cool craft idea on this site with little fish hanging inside a clear Christmas ball ornament, I'm thinking of doing something maybe along those lines.....

I might as well add this story though I'm sure it will only confirm my lunacy... I used to work at a place that trained exotic animals for TV and movies. One year for Christmas we collected elephant poop, set it out in the sun to dry out (and get rid of the ammonia smell) and then shellacked (sp?) it and gave those away for Christmas. Fortunately elephants are herbivores so it wasn't horrible gross, but it was horribly funny!

Dino poop for Christmas gifts. I love the idea. Anyone know where I can get some quickly?

I hope you find some "dinosaur poop". The drying, shellac'ing and selling of feces is popular in NW B.C. too - except we use moose dung...Makes for great earrings! If you are nuts, I know a bunch of other people who need to line up for the looney bin! :-)
