You know, temp drops like that are hard to take and I imagine even more so for you since you don't get that low that often. I hate it and I live with it. We're supposed to get down to 15 tonight with 30 - 40 mph winds. Be our first below zero windchills, man am I glad I don't have to work outside in this kind of weather anymore. We're only supposed to get 1 - 3 inches tonight but it's snowing like crazy out. I can hardly see across the street ........ ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Yes the moon was very helpful to me tonite as my power went out. The moon light was bright enough to get me to the flashlight.

Oops, I'm in California, moon's already high in the sky here. But just before it gets to it's zenith (highest point) you can see a very bright "star" within the ring of moonglow. It must be Mars as it has a reddish tint to it.

i love full moon...though my new favorite description comes from my four-year old who looked at a sliver of a moon the other night and said it looked just like a cat's toenail!

Pine, mars is about 2 oclock from the moon, Tonight, Pleiades is between the moon and mars. There are alot of stars that have a redish tint to them, also a blue tint. Here is my first try at ccd imaging, this had exposer time of 3 seconds, with an older cannon 35mm ae1. 26mm plossel lens, with a moon filter.

Ooo how cool is that. Nice shot!! May 5...which is Cinqo de Mayo...a holiday I'd never heard of before I moved here. Hey Herm, we have something in common, May 5th is my anniversary. Cinco de Mayo = Mexican Holiday that celebrates the victory of the Mexican Army over the French at the Battle of Puebla.
