Well I'm a couple of weeks shy of being an official RTH member for a year. While looking for a picture in an old post I started going thru lots of old threads that I remember as being funny, memorable or had some nice pictures. I had a blast doing this and found myself laughing even harder as I had back then. Why not have a RTH 2005 Best of contest. We could break it up into categories like best photo, best batch, most funny, most thoughtful....or we could just relate a memory and leave it at that. So I'll get this ball rolling.... Here's a contest I did this spring. It was very fun to watch people guessing the type of "rocks" in the picture. forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/index.cgi?board=Pictures&action=display&thread=1113366246I got the idea from BearCreek as he had done a similar contest a few weeks before. That contest was absolutely awesome and here is the link (too bad the pics aren't there anymore...) forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/index.cgi?board=Pictures&action=display&thread=1111961987Another fun one. I just love hearing about Nephrite's diving chronicles. He's gotten some unbelievable pieces out of the big water and I love to read about them. I can still picture him in my mind...diving mask on, bubbles going up, his face grimmacing as he makes a futile attempt to grab that sweet piece jade just out of his reach in a small sea cave!!! Then in the next scene he's swimming away after he lights a 100 foot piece of dynamite fuse. Seems like nothing will stop the mighty Tony from getting his green/blue jade...LOL forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=Pictures&thread=1123014650&page=1Well, step up to the plate and let's see your favorite threads or relate your favorite moments of 2005. If we get a great response to this, I'll set up a poll and we can vote. LET'S HEAR FROM YOU.... Gaeter

The pics probably aren't there anymore but the pics of Bearcreek's cabs are something I really remember, they were so stunning! I'll have to think on the others.

I loved the thread where people explained their screen names. I tried to find it but no luck. Joe

OH dang, I would love to see explainations for folks screen names. I almost started a thread asking that recently, it's usually so interesting to hear why people call themselves the things they do. If anyone does find that thread, please post a link

Sands-
You ever get anywhere near Utah, you gimme a call. We'll spend some good time seeking out the finer things of the desert. There's so much to do and see here. Continued luck in your new digs and hope you get your hide out this way someday.

My personal best moment is meeting all you fine folks here at the RTH board.
My favorite thread has to be be the "this is me" thread. I really enjoyed putting faces to names, even though a quite a few of you put in distant shots of yourselves, and nobody still has a clue as to that you look like
But I understand why those types of pictures were posted.

Like Alice I would have to say that the greatest moment for me was joining the board (only a month ago)and chatting with you good people. This is the first board I have ever been on and it inspired me to start my own. I'm trying to get my wife on here so that she can add to the goodness! She makes beaded jewelry and is a rockhound too. Be on the lookout for Mrs. BAZ.

Yea Where is Bear- Hope everything is ok with him! Ok now for some other great moments- How about the Ocean Jasper Craze? Edog pics of Gem shop bins of Ocean Jasper, Tweeties first Cabs (hmmm we have not seen many since then) KD's Stunning Krazycab contests (sands too, and some one else- Banjo maybe?) The Flat rate frenzy (god I still love seeing that red white and blue box in my gagage!) More Pet wood addicts than you can *ahem* shake a stick at! The Great Proboards "it will only take a day or so to update the board (yea try like 4 or 5 days)" More crazy, funny, bizarre Ebay auctions than ever- Banjo's trip to scotland- and his Marriage (congrates) CE woas-

Parfive: I agree with you about those winning categories, but you missed one: the day Stefan's pictures turned out good because he was using a scanner! (sorry Stefan, but it was really nice seeing your in-focus pictures)
I'll have to say Edogs pictures of OJ are amazing - still not sure if that stuff isn't in his basement (he says it's from the store, but I'm not sure I believe him)
my best personal moment is about a year ago! When I joined this board and met all you nice people and I actually learned a whole lot from you guys and everyone has been so generous and kind!
I'd like to nominate a thread as well - but I can't find it - the one where Sands humble beginnings making cabs were chronicled and admired... The box is also an amazing undertaking (Thanks to Steve for thinking about it and to everyone for contributing to it)
Stefan: thanks for mentioning the cabbing (which I'm trying to get back to as I've started going through withdrawl!)

I think my favorite thread is when Doc went on a rant about "Where's Andy?!". Doc I still laugh when I think about it, I'm sure you didnt mean it to be so funny but it was. I have the utmost respect and fondness for you Doc so please don't be offended.
BCL's cabs are so beautiful, I am at a loss for words...
My favorite moment was when I found this board. I literally was shocked at how nice everyone was here. I'm used to the Bulldog Boards which are anything but nice. This place has become my sanctuary when things in my world get too crazy. Thank you all for welcoming me here... Marian
Oh yeah I almost forgot, what ever happend to the Rock Flops lol?
