I had to come up with SOMETHING for a subject you know. ;D So here's what's on my mind... When I signed up here I just picked one of a few internet aliases I tend to use because they are rarely already taken. I mean, I had to come up with SOMETHING for a name on here and that's what I ended up using. No divine inspiration there. LCARS was fine for me at the time since it got me on the board. Now that time has passed, I look back on my choice of alias and wonder if it isn't off base from most of the other users here...? Most of us have names that just make sense or have to do with rocks somehow. Mine is just an acronym for "Library Computer Access Retrieval System"...  That's right, LCARS really has nothing to do with rocks, but rather my admiration for a vision that Star Trek TNG scenic design director Michael Okuda had for how computers should look/work/feel in the 24th century. He has provided an ideal goal for computing engineers of today to work towards for our future. (and those touch panel displays look really friggin sweet too!) ;D Now, I know everyone has gotten to know my handle so there's no real sense in trying to change it but I though that it might be time for a more personal touch since everyone here seems to be like familly, we should at least be on a first name basis don't you think? From now on, all the familliar RTH'ers can just call me Rob (the newbies will eventually catch on too)  |

LCARS - Warning - changing ones name can seriously damage your health !!!  I think - that if you place a name in your profile in the "Display Name" field - it appears by your posts instead of your Sign In name which can (must) remain as LCARS. Maybe you could have a display name of ROB aka LCARS. - I think this may help? Cheers Mark |

Rob- hmmmmm OK I can live with that- I mean we had Mark (originally Andy) and Don (originally Rollingstone) and Cher (originally rosebud) and Nepherite (AKA tony, driftwood, and some others I forgot- course I think he left us for good) and who could forget Tmorris (AKA tim, uncle fester, mrs. tmorris, and a host of other names) But Rob works- nice- simple- easy to use in a sentence (I will ROB your rocks when your not looking.) YEP I Like it- welcome Rob

Like I said, I really have no intent of changing my handle.
I just noticed alot of other members sign off with their first name.
I usually only sign off on PM's or emails, not forum posts, so you'll hardly ever see my first name anywhere around here.
It's all good.

Whoah Hermy. You are not Rob are you? I am really getting confused by all this. Why cannot things just stay the way they were? I really just got used to it when Andy was moderator, then he became Mark. I kinda like Mark now, but soon he is going to be a father. All this change. Then others came and went. You even hit reset. All this change.
I mean, just the other day, Mcgovern was running for pres. I had tickets for Woodstock and we were loading the Ford Forward control van. It took us a long time. It is hard to fit 10 people in a van, especially when they are really toked, and the driver cannot get off first gear.
I remember Weird Harold telling us he couldn't feel his face so we all beaned him on the head with our shoes to see if he could feel that. He got bloody, but he never felt us beaning him. Ziggy climbed the bass towers at Woodstock and lost his hearing. Speedbump ran over himself driving his Harley. He ran over his hand and the bike pulled him off at highway speed.
We called him Speedbump because speedbumps had more going on than him.
Then I left Woodstock, and poof! A shuttle blew up! What the heck is a shuttle?
What happened to Ron Bushy? Where is his hair? Lee Dorman, whoah dude! Martin Gerschwitz he is still one of us.That is a good thing.
What happened?
