Nope, It's a light delicate meat like frog if it's not overcooked. If anyone cares to look in the gourmet section in their local grocery store, they might understand why I watch our front portch like a junkyard dog eyeballin a bag of burgers, early evening, (dark 30 ) is the most productive time.

Forgot to mention, Rattlers also follow a previously laid scent trail like Monarch Butterflies, if you find one holed up and resting in a particular spot you might mark that place down in your important book as it might be good for a free lunch in the future.
Yea , I know------- PORCH
My thumb / little finger typing style combined with my poor attention to detail makes for interesting combinations when you slide your paw around on a sensitine keypad. Sensitive, caught that one.

Wow, Thanks everybody for all of the information. I have just learned that Redrock Laboratories has just recently produced a vaccine that can be given to dogs to make them ammune to rattlesnake bites. Only thing is, it only works against one type, the western diamondback............. That is a start and the western diamondback is actually the most common in our area. Hey Earthdog, This is my pond These are the ponds my Dad and I built at their house in Utah Mine is just a little one, but it was a great way to use up some of the rocks I have dragged home over the years.

I know everyone said this but I use Mothballs all around our house and yard scared to death the kids will run in to one of these critters the guy who comes once a year to spray for spiders and ants*BTW that spray don't do much for the spiders we have black widows) said Mothballs are the way to go but I have to put them down 6 times a year. We have only seen one snake since I started this it was a baby my son took it to the river and let it go. and that pond is just to pretty I will also offer you a place to store all that rock Cina

I didn't read all the post, sorry but there is a snake bit shot that you can get from your vet, I think Fort Dodge makes it and its a big seller out the the western parts of OK and TX. So ask your vet or give fort dodge a look see on the net and find out for yourself.

My grandpa grew up in west va and he told me he once saw a snake climb up a brick wall.
WOW all that space, man I think I'm moving out west! I live in VA and there are trees everywhere and you can't see past 20 feet, that sky that goes on for ever just makes me feel so great. You know the best place in America that you can see forever with no obstacles, but not mountainous just straight ahead? I live in north va (DC) I think in my deep down I need wide open spaces! My grandpa is from west va and that is a very county place, he is an outdoors person. he has a goshawk that the hunts with, every now and then he takes me trapping or something outdoors that anyone I know would rather go to the mall. I like it seeing those pics reminded me of that. MAN I need a country retreat I think I'm going camping!

Hi BAZ, Yes I'm west of Phoenix, actually northwest. Wickenburg is 15 minutes away and Phoenix is 15 minutes away. We have a great view of the White Tank Mountains from the front of our house and a good view of the mountain range that runs west of Lake Pleasant.
When the Buckeye fire was burning last year, we could see a huge cloud of smoke coming from the other side of the White Tanks, it was so sad, we could also see the wall of flames from the cavecreek complex fire from the backyard at night.

This is the fire burning in Buckeye last year, was like that for 4 or 5 days or longer. The trail of smoke was heading right for Phoenix.
