Ok this is gong to just be a rant, so be warned. Three days ago this message popped up on my computer when I opened internet explorer. Innocently enough it said upgrade to the NEW IE, click ok or cancel. Well I clicked ok eagerly thinking it would be this great new upgrade..... Well I must say this thing is the most RETARTED piece of software I have ever used; further more it has lots of bugs! It is very frustrating!, I have to use AOL to browse the internet, AND I HATE AOL MORE THAN I HATE THE WORST EVIL IN THE WORLD LIKE OSAMA, HITLER, RAPISTS, ETC!, Anyway needless to say having to use AOL against my will which I hate, resent, loath and want to make go out of business, pisses me off. And having the new F******* Up IE SUCKS! Does anyone know how to go back to the old IE? Thanks lol sorry Anthony

Good Rant!! I was surprised by the upgrade as well... Microcrap includes it in the critical updates so if your PC is set to automatically update then you will get the new version. I had to disable automatic updates on my companies network to prevent the upgrade to IE 7.0. Most of our critical apps are web based which utilize IE as the platform and I have not had a chance to test the new version.
Unfortunately I don't have any instructions for removing the upgrade and restoring the old version. But you might try the Add/Remove programs app in the Control Panel. OR.... Just download FireFox and be done with it!!

Blarney, I thought about both of those options. I really was hoping some would tell me the equivalent of just clicking something as if it were a smoking gun. PUN intended! But I regress, I will check the add/remove,,, I have had issues with firefox, too I am hoping that Google will come out with one, they always use common since in their software, or at least it seems to me they try to make our life easier unlike Microsoft which just tries to make their pockets thicker.
Some people write software which is like milk and honey poring endless from the top of a mountain, some morons write software which makes me want to become a serial killer...

Thanks for the heads-up, Anthony. I'm with you on AOL, and am seriously considering going to Firefox. So far, IE 6 has been working okay for me, but I will be careful not to get tricked into 7.0 now. I had heard it was out, but didn't know they were offering it as a critical upgrade or that it was buggy.

OMFG, it is buggier than an ant colony. And I am seriously considering getting another browser too, I can't stand opening up AOL software to browse, I feel like each time I do I get crushed in the skull with a mace and I loose a piece of my soul, I feel like my heart gets torn out and cabbed with a diamond belt... ok sorry I'll stop here.
ALSO since we are on the subject of ranting WTF is up with those send error reports F*** that I feel like Microsoft is using me as a guinea pig, I must of gotten like 25 of those in the limited time I used the new IE. I bet it's just BS and nothing goes anywhere.
Anyone ever used Opera 9.02 for Windows?

Anthony,
There's a couple of things uyou might want to check in IE's settings.
To disable those pesky send error reports messages: In IE click on 'Tools' from the text menu at the top... Then click Internet Options from the sub-menu. When the window opens, click on the advanced tab at the top. Look down the list and put acheck in front of Disable Script Debugging (Internet Explorer) You can disable Script Debugging for all apps if you want. Also, you may want to un-check 'Display notification about every script error'
Lots of web pages have scripting errors and unless you want to be interupted every time you run accross one it's good to disable the script error reporting...

Thank you Blarney, I did not know you could turn off those reports. I really want to I'll have to think about it. The "problem" is that they use the word debugging, so it makes me think it is something good for me. Ha I bet I'll do it the next time 3 of them pop up and it freezes my computer for a min while I'm doing something. That happens half the time. I have a brand new dell xps too

Script debugging is useful if you are a programmer/scripter but it's useless to an everyday user. Are you getting Active-X control errors/notifications as well?
IE has never been easy to uninstall because so many of it's components are integral to the OS. If you performed a custom install there is a chance you can roll it back to the previous version.

I found a reply on another board wer someone asked the same thing. It stated to remove that update, goto add/remove and make sure you click the "show update"(right click on my computer), which will show all the updates to windows. The only problem i see with that, is you must then know for certain what uppate has this new IE7 in it, then remove it. Im still on IE6, and thanks for posting how IE7 is working. I found this breif artical too that states IE7, corputs IE6; www.marketingpilgrim.com/2006/02/microsoft-ie-70-sucks.htmlI mainly use the mozilla siutes; Seamonkey, FireFox. And they work great. But i never had a problem with opera either.

I agree so much with that article and have additional complaints, Thanks freeform. I'm tired now and am very hungry so I don't know when I will exactly deal with this but it will be within two days. I might just switch to firefox completely, .... This rant was fun I feel better...I think I need to rant some more so anyone want to start up some other subjects I would be happy to join!
Either way I'm going to do some thinking on this, switch to firefox, uninstall the new IE, and deal with the bs the article says exists or figure out how exactly to put the old one on, ect. O well I THINK THE POINT OF ALL THIS IS THAT IDIOTS WORK AT MICROSOFT.
It would have been nice to just turn on a computer and not have to become an expert to use it, that's not how cars work. Ha. I’ve have been using computers since I was using 14.kbs modems, prodigy ISP, and the worst resolution screen on MS 3.0 imaginable. So I have been through every learning chapter possible but I can only imagine about some poor sap that just started lately and does not have the old base years HA. They probably feel that they spent 1,200 dollars on something that is the biggest rip off ever!

Blarney, I'm getting active x problems. Can seem to play any movies and most web pages won't load. Says I need java script 7 or something and I know I have it. Can't load any pogo games to play or anything. Do you know how to fix this?? It's very annoying!!! I don't think I have upgraded to IE 7, unless it did it by it's self. Tonja

LadyT~ Java is just a plug in to IE. You can download and install it easily.. here's the link to download and install for Windows: www.java.com/en/download/windows_ie.jsp Just be aware that Java includes the G**gle tool bar install by default. You must Un-check the G**gle toolbar option to prevent it from installing. Active-X controls can be enabled or disabled in the internet options panel. One word of caution here, Active-X scripts can be used to run malicious code on your PC! With that in mind use some caution when changing Active-X settings. Ideally you should place web site addresses and/or Domain names that you trust and visit frequently into the 'Trusted Sites' zone for IE and then enable Active-X controls for the trusted sites zone only. Here's how you do that: ~ Open IE ~ Click on 'Tools' from the text menu at the top. ~ Click on 'Internet Options' ~ In the 'Internet Options' window click on the 'Security' tab at the top. ~ You'll see 4 icons... Click on the 'Trusted Sites' icon. ~ With the 'Trusted Sites' icon highlighted, click on the 'Sites' button. ~ You can add 'trusted' web site addresses here. Simply insert an address into the field and click add. You will probably need to uncheck the box in front of 'Require server verification...'. This will allow you to 'loosen' the security settings for web sites you trust. ~ Once all your trusted sites have been added, click 'OK' ~ With the 'Trusted Sites' icon still highlighted, click on the 'Custom Level' button. ~ Look for ActiveX controls and plugins. 1. Start with 'Download signed activeX controls' and change to 'Enable' Scroll down a bit and find: 2. "Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins"change to 'enable' 3. "Script activeX controls marked safe for scripting" change to enable. Click OK when finished and then click 'Yes' when prompted for confirmation. These settings will allow safe activeX controls to run from your trusted web sites. If you wish to enable these controls for every web site you on the internet simply highlight the 'Internet' Web zone icon in the Internet Options Security window and adjust the activeX controls as above. Clear as mud? PM me if you need further assistance... I can send you screen shots via e-mail if needed. Hope this helps. Dan
