I'm sad for you Daniel. I've had to do that a couple of times for my dogs that were old and sick. It's a hard thing to do, but at least you know you were there for him 6 years ago and again today. He had a great last 6 years and is resting peacefully now. I'm so sorry for your loss. Tonja

This makes me sad Daniel.. but Hacky was one of the lucky ones to have such a good friend and caretaker. Like doc says.. we should all be so fortunate. My wife and I have 3 great feline companions and we have lost some very special ones as well, so I know how you must be grieving. Take care of yourself and take time to recover..

I was hoping this would go the other way - the miracle of modern science and all that. I'm so sorry for your loss, though. I'm glad you had the others to help you heal.

Ok, moving on. I have decided to sponsor some cats in foster care at the local shelter. They let you donate in memory of a cat who has died if you want. I picked two brothers, Tulley and Finnegan, because when I do get more cats, it will be a pair that is used to cuddling up together. I was always a little sad that Hacky never bonded enough to cuddle with my two older cats. I don't think my two octogenarians will take to another cat, and I know my landlord would not like two more cats in the house, so it may be a year or two before I adopt anyone else. I plan to spend a little less on new rocks and maybe sponsor some fostering every 2-3 months. Here is their picture: centrecountypaws.org/images/cats/2006/TulleyFinnegan041506.jpgYou can see Tulley and Finnegan about half-way down on the Centre county PAWS adoption page: centrecountypaws.org/cats.cfm

Red Tabbys are my favourite. They are head bonkers. My Red Tabby of many years ago, Bartholomew, used to run from across the room and bash my forehead with his. We would play that game for hours untill I couldn't stand the pain any longer. He used to sleep on my pillow with his nose in my ear. I wish my Bengal Ralph, would sleep with me. He is too busy profileing. Too much wild cat to humble himself to be touched unless he wants to, and that is rare.
