Just finished up my office floor. Did a mosaic with the leftovers from all of the tile jobs I did last year, that and what was left after I finished my kitchen and living room. It took forever, I think I will stick with mosaic borders instead of doing another floor like that again. Does anyone like it? I was thinking about doing a border around the door frame to match it, think I should try that or just leave it as is?

Very nice. I think the border for the door would be very interesting. Don't see that too often.

WOW! Jamie, I love that! That is tons of work..how long did that take you?? I have done tile before and the grouting took me forever, and I can't even imagine anything like this. You should be proud of yourself. You mixed shapes and colors perfectly...still going back up to take another look....WOWZERS! Steve

Desert that is absolutely amazing - I will know who to ask now when I need some tips. I bet that was a nightmare - choosing the "next tile" to go down - having to root through what? Did you have a massive pile of tiles somewhere near and have to dig through them till you found the right one?
Storming floor.
Grouting - did you grout with a float or did you have to trowel all that lot in bit by bit?

Thanks everyone, it took me 4 weeks, I had to stop working on it and do the Christmas thing in between. Mark, I had so many pieces of tile piled up on the floor you wouldn't believe it and that was exactly what I did, randomly placed the larger pieces and then spent hours looking for just the right shapes to fill in the rest of the areas. I'm really happy with the way it turned out though. I did use a float to grout the floor, the grout lines are a lot wider than those in a regular floor so I went through a ton of grout.

Thats right Kim, I sent you a picture of the abyss I was trying to work in before it was done, it was deemed a hard hat area.

that is an amazingly well done piece of "floor art". where are you thinking of doing the border? near that golden looking frame? if it were me, i'd leave well enough alone and don't mess with perfection!

Beautiful work! I tiled my bathroom several years ago and know that took some work, I can't imagine doing that much floor space in mosaic. You should be very proud of that job!!!!!!!! Sandy
