I rescue about one snake per week from my mom. It could be the same snake that you keep rescueing and he returns. Maybe he knows by now he's in safe hands there Adrian

I hate to say it but I think that bug is adorable! I noticed it said they are found in the Western US along the Pacific Coast...........thats where I am but I have NEVER seen one of those!

I have never seen a bug (I know, an insect) that big. If I saw one walking across my yard I would be curious enough to try to close to observe it but if it turned toward me I would probably run! i have a truce with spiders now. I figure they eat mosquitos that may have west nile, etc. - as long as they stay outside and not inside the house.

Okay - that toe-biter is just yuck. Yuck, yuck, yuck.
As for the potato bug - I've lived here 5 years and have yet to see one. What gets me are the scorpions and mud-daubers. Both of those will sting! About two or three months ago I had to take a break from a phone conversation to kill the scorpion that was crawling on the couch towards me. Ugh. Talk about a minor adrenaline rush!

I've seen a couple here, not that big, but every bit that ugly. They do seem to prefer staying underground and are not seen often, but I know they are here.
As for those toe-biters and water spiders- remind me to stay out of ponds in NY and Missouri
