OK...the surgeon came in this morning and asked the wife if she was feeling good enough for him to do the surgery....she said "get your knife out and start cutting"
Anyways....the surgery took twice as long as expected but all went well.....the doc got all the stones out and the gall bladder too. It took her two hours in recovery to wake up.....and she is up in her room crashed out right now. I expect I can take her home tomorrow if she is feeling up to it.
Thanks for your prayers and thoughts......
Pho

I'm praying that she has a good rest and recovery. Also that you get some rest and recovery. I'm sure this has been hard on you too.

Great news! My wife had the same surgery about 8 years ago, and it was rough for the first couple days, but it will outweigh the effects she felt before for sure! Will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers for a full recovery!

I'm wondering the same thing Tom. I'm not a good cook but you could probably use a hand around the place on the weekends. Please let me know if I can help you out in any way. I live so close to you it wouldn't be trouble at all... I mean it Tom. Dan

Hey Pho, glad to hear the good news. I too had that surgery in 1998. Man, those stones are very painful!! I had my gall bladder removed, stones intact, and haven't had a lick of trouble since. My husband also had his removed 2 years ago and he's great. It will be easy going for about 2 weeks, maybe 3. She'll be up and hounding again in no time. Now, it's time for YOU to rest. Get you some sleep and relax a bit. I know you need it, you've been through an emotional few weeks. Take the help offered and best of everything to you and Anita. Tonja

I took my aunt, who is severly disabled with MS, to Greeley, CO for gall bladder surgery back in May. It was an adventure, but things went very well. We forgot to ask if we could keep the stones, tho; apparently sometimes they look pretty cool. She is fine, now. One thing; do ask about what she should not eat for awhile. After we left the hospital, I told my aunt she could have whatever she wanted, after all she had been thru. She chose a cheeseburger, onion rings and a big chocolate waffle cone sundae from DQ. Once I got her back to her full care facility, one of the nurses said that fatty foods and dairy like that were NOT good! The surgeons directions had said "no restrictions' on food.... Good luck to you both, and I'm so glad everything went well!

Yup...we did get a good idea on what not to eat for a long time. We are taking things one day at a time for now. She is a little sore from the operation as is to be expected. I am a very good cook and dish washer too...so all she has to do for a few days is sit back and relax..... We would like to take this time to thank everyone for their support during this last few days. It has been trying. I hope no one else has to ever go through this. Thanks again.

Great news, Tom. Take care of that wonderful lady. And yourself, while you are at it.
And the offer stands. If you need anything, give a hollar.
