I'm from Northern California, and we didn't feel a thing. Our relatives called us. They were in a car and are OK. I hope everyone in the area is alright. It was out past Alum Rock. Steve

Prayers for everyone's safety are on the way. I just read a report that this is the second earthquake (of any significance, since CA has hundreds everyday) to hit today. The other registered at 2.8. I hope you are all safe out there.

I just remembered...Ed is going on the Arizona trip. Maybe he is already away from the area.

OK, just checked my rocks all are OK! Although one slightly has a fracture in it but not sure if it was there previously. Thank god for small miracles.

It shook pretty good here in Berkeley for almost 30 seconds it seemed, (probably really only 5-10) I had things fall of shelves, but at my house that's no big deal.
I thought animals were supposed to sense these things in advance, my cat looked at my like "what did you do that for?"

Glad your rocks are ok LOL
Just seen a news flash, they said it could be felt as far east as Sacramento and far north as San Rafael.
That's some scary stuff.

Maybe that's the way Mother Eath is saying "Trick or treat". Glad you're all OK.

OK back to being serious, there is a nice sized crack in my sheet rock on the ceiling. I went into the attic and there's no cracked beams or other damage. It hit 15 miles from my home.

Felt it while reading bedtime stories to my children. The shaking was like a slow, side-to-side shake. It's the first earthquake me or my kids had felt.

I'm still here! We're okay, the house is okay, but I just checked all my rocks and the poppy jasper is got a bunch of fractures! Man, that was a good one though, I heard it coming before it hit. Susan had to run over to stop the Grandmother clock from falling over. Did that crack in your ceiling really happen from the quake? This is the first quake in our new house and I have to say, this house is built more solidly than our other house. The other house used to creak and groan during quakes this size and this house just rolled with it and made no noises.

Glad you made it safe Ed! That is definitely a new crack, easily repaired with tape, plaster & texture. Thank god there was no real damage.

Creature (Tony I assume), I hope there is no damage other than your sheetrock! 15 miles is pretty close. Are there any secondary faults near you?
I talked to Ed this morning and he didn't say anything about the earthquake. I'll ask on the way to AZ. Steve
