Making out in school is one thing, but a quick good bye hug? Please. I bet the school administrators still shake hands! OMG! That should be banned, too! You know what hand shakes can lead to! This year, the school district here came up with a new strictly enforced dress code. Nothing really wrong with it. Except that some of the fashions don't quite fit the rules. There were a lot of ticked off parents and students when they were issued "citations" or sent home to change. I don't see anything wrong with kids having to wear clean clothes with no holes, rips, etc. That pants must "stay up" not hanging down to their knees! They can't wear T-Shirts with offensive pictures or words. They can't wear see-through clothes. Things like that. But the biggest controversy was how low a female's neckline should be! And it all came down to a matter of interpretation! Here it is quoted from the policy: Tops (Shirts, blouses, sweaters) Rounded, buttoned, collared or higher neckline on tops must cover chest at all times; Must be long enough to be tucked in, cover the mid-section and past belt line when seated; Must have sleeves; Must be neat, clean and in appropriate repair, no holes or tears; and Must fit appropriately and not be tight or baggy. It sounds appropiate enough, but, teachers were using the rule "if the neckline falls 3 fingers below the collarbone, it's too low"! If any of you have shopped for teenaged girls recently, you know how hard it is to find tops that fall into this category that they will wear! NOT! You think the teenaged girls want to wear boys T-Shirts or "misses" tops or turtle-necks? NOT! Hey, I do believe that cleavage showing in high school is not appropriate. But as long as there is no cleavage or bras or whatever showing, a little lower of a neckline is not bad. Geez, it's not like it's Victorian times when you couldn't show your neck or your ankles. My daughter says it's a little more relaxed at school now.
