yesterday it was raining some finally ;D....2 kids that are new in the hood...maybe 7 and 8...were riding their bikes down our only road....we have 1 road in and out.
i was sitting here looking out the window....and noticed they were turning around thru my grass...after the 2nd time i went outside....and whoad them up....and said please dont run your bikes thru my yard....its wet....and ya messing my stuff up....first good rain in months ;D.
well...today....they did again.....i walked outside and said....yes very firmly.
stay off of the damn grass...use the parking space to turn around. ;D
i reckon they went back and told mom and dad....or someone ;D....next thing i know police is knocking on the door...said they had report i was harassing children....after a few minutes...all was cool ;D....i actually think they went to scold who ever called ;D....when they left.
i was typing this.....and got a call from a deputy friend ;D....wanting to know what in the world i was doing to to piss off the neighbors again ;D...another story ;D.
anyway....kids dont care anymore....or maybe i should say...parents raise there kids not to care anymore....the parents could have easily came and knocked on the door....i would have explained....and gave them beer ;D.
but it is now a weird world i suppose ;D...kev.

Back in the day, a shotgun loaded with rock salt would have fixed the problem and their parents would have said "well, you should have been in his grass".

A fence would solve the problem, and some electric wires hidden into it would fix it for good ;D

Back at the old house we had a steep hill in your back yard (maybe 3 storeys high) - the kids (much older than 7-8 year olds) would slide there into our backyard - near the back elevated deck - I was shooing them out of there every year (one year they laughed at me - hubby did nothing, I said one day one of them will slide into either the shed or the deck and hurt themselves) - well one year, they slid right into the deck - big bang on their part - the deck had nothing, but they didn't slide there again! Hehe - then we put up a fence and only our kids would slide there
My 7 year old son will do stupid stuff, but when I catch him, he stops - and I would hope that someone would tell him to stop and he would be nice enough to obey if they did - I agree, some kids are pretty mean - I never would have thought of answering back or disobeying an adult when I was a kid (kids now are called T-Fal kids - cuz nothing sticks to them)

cant put up a fence...the association puts up with my weird stuff...but a fence naw...aint gonna happen ;D....i cave on certain things...and they bear with me on others...i totally messed them with a speed bump the size of godzilla ;D.....that was funny ;D...nobody knew it was there ;D
now we have thumping music....at all hours of the night....disrespectful kids....parents that wanna call the police....just cause they got told...what they shouldnt be doing in the first place.

Since the 60's our public schools teach the students there is no God and they are decendant from animals. Now we wonder why they act like Godless animals. john

I agree! But are there not parents, who are teaching these principals to their kids and find themselves in a battle against a public school system that unteach-es those principals? Then their are the parents that teach their kids nothing.... many kids find themselves in a situation like mine. My father abandoned my mom to raise 4 kids. She would never take welfare and worked 7 days a week at 2 jobs, sometimes on the same day. Later in life, when I began to grow up (in my thirties) I would talk to her about these things and she said, she depended on the schools to give us the same education she received. She admitted being mad a God for her life and thought we were learning prayer and the commandments and the same Godly principals she was taught, By the time I was 13, she realized what I learned was sex, drugs, crime and selfishness. john

I understand what you are saying John, but because of the freedom of religion thing in the constitution, all religions would have to be taught. I really don't want my kid learning some of the religions today. School should be where our kids learn reading, writing, and math and such things. All religious learning needs to be done at home and in the church of your choice. As far as the thing s you learned, well I hope that you didn't choose to use that knowledge.

Sorry I disagree- It takes a Village to raise an Idiot!! It takes a Family to raise a child. It takes a group of people who love and respect not only each other but God and their Country! People who are not afraid to roll up their sleeves and get down to business. People who are not afraid to say NO to a child, who are not afraid to punish a child (no I'm not talking about beating- just good old fashion punishment- Time out, Taking away privledges, sending them over to Kevins house this spring to re-seed his lawn) People who give thier child love, respect and direction. People who teach children to respect others! That's all it takes!

Morals, values, respect, patience, forgiveness, and all such matters should be learned at home. To entrust others, such as schools or even churches, to teach your children these things is asking for problems. When I see children displaying gross ignorance in these types of matters, I can only blame it on the parents. There's no substitute for good parenting.
In your case, the parents obviously lack any shred of decent parenting or social skills. The proper action for the parent would have been to take the child to your house to hear the "other side", assess the situation, let appropriate apologies be made, and see that restitution be made for damages done by the child. Calling the cops was a sure sign of denial, lack of accepting responsibility, laziness, and just plain bad parenting. To be honest, I'd file a police report, get an estimate from a landscaping company for repair of the damage, and take the parents to small claims court for restitution, even if it's just $50, just to teach the ignorant parents a lesson.

Hey ... C'mon guys/gals! Two young children riding their bikes, not motorcycles, not motorized anything, going through the grass in someones yard is not something to get excited about.
