Well my husband says that I do have a thing for balls so that would explain my interest in keeping christmas balls shiny. Everyone has a different method though so I was just curious as to yours since your balls are so sparkly and shiny!!! I have a super secret method to shining them too. Ive certainly never had any complaints about my methods and in fact get requests for frequent re-shine jobs. But since they are all a little different, you can certainly send yours for me to try my hand at shining them. After all, variety is the spice of life right? I would probably get bored if I had to look at the same ole' christmas balls every year anyway. Just dont send any blue ones, I dont like those. And I also prefer ones of substantial size as smaller ones just dont hang quite right at christmas time. Do you have any like that?

Why yes Shannon I do have a pair that I could possibly send you. They are redish in color and in a soft, pale leather looking sack. These balls are best stored in a sack as to prevent damage and to keep them from separating because my balls are always bouncing. They are a matched pair. Very nice balls if I do say so, myself. They are of substantial size also, which you might enjoy shining for me. Have you ever heard of "Super Balls"? Well thats what others have called them when they come over and seen my big balls. Shocked, utterly shocked when they have seen them.  "I've got big balls and they're such big balls, dirty big balls"  |

Ummm Tony, I dont know what YOU are talking about but Jim and I are talking about christmas ornaments and how to keep them shiny. Maybe you've been tipping a paper bag wrapped bottle into your egg nog a bit too much today? earthdog, Here are a couple of ours. Decorative balls doesn't need a moderator. I'll bet Mark or Sands have some nice decorative balls also.
My balls like to be looked at, handled and admired. After being handled, you must shine them up to get the fingerprints off of them.
I was sitting around the other day admiring how big my balls are, when I came to the conclusion that they are somewhere between fairly giant and super giant. It's like I have a pair of Epcot centers dangling. My balls are astronomical.
The last nine or ten false readings in gravity wave detectors have been due to the gravity field of my balls, they're just under critical mass.
When others see my balls, they must bow unto the power of my enormous balls, theres nothing else like them, at least not in Wisconsin.
They are so big, I don't want to brag, but they can be used as floatation devices.

Well I've tried to stay away from talking about my balls but I decided to jump into the conversation. I like to try and make mine as round as possible. I like it when they roll nicely across the floor. I don't like mine too shiny though. I usually give them a coat of tung oil and then buff them to give a smooth natural feel. My wife is proud of them and likes to keep them in a jar on the mantle year round. That way, when ever we have company, they become on of the first topics of discussion. As a matter of fact we almost always talk about my balls with company. Sometimes she lets me take them down and feel them. Taking them out of the house though, that is out of the question. I can post a picture of my balls is anyone one is interested.

Hey I want to see your balls!!!! You keep them in a jar? That seems like mistreatment of your balls though. As long as you handle them them a lot though they might be ok.
Earthdog's been bragging about his humongous balls but I dont think he can roll his across the floor but many would say "why would you want to?" I prefer them in my hand rather than rolling them across the floor.

I can't roll them across the floor, that would be too painful to to me to do with my balls.
Balls are meant to be played with, handled and admired.

Well mine are seen and admired by many. Not only from being on the mantle but I have posted pictures on the web for all to see. Afterall I am very proud of my balls. I have some balls that sit in some of my bowls too. Apparently I have a lot of balls. Balls on the mantle, balls in bowls, I even have some balls in my shop. They definitely feel best in your hands though. They are so round and the tung oil gives them a velvety feel. My balls are pretty tough too. Here is a picture of my balls for all to see.  |
