Wow Kim, that's really cool, did you have a pattern or what? Too bad it's so hard to drill rocks, I could see that with some nice little polished stones, like a bangle bracelet.

Awesome Kim! That is a classy piece. I love how it looks as though the beads are weaving in and out. The clasp looks perfect - did you use 18HH for it?

this was in the august 2002 wire artist jeweller magazine. it calls for 15" 20-ga square 1/2 hard wire, 24" 23-ga round 1/2 hard wire, 3" 22-ga square hard wire, & 18-20 4mm beads. i used 22-ga 1/2 hard or hard for everything because that's what i had. the beads are purple moss agate minus all the purple that i used in another project lol. aside from the minor change in wire, i followed the instructions exactly i thought. it was suppose to make a "medium" size bracelet so i'm thinking it's going to turn out a 7"-7.5" bracelet. it barely makes it to 6" with the clasp. my daughter admires everything i make so this just worked out fine. when she woke up she had a fine new bracelet that fits her perfectly. apparently you lose length in the zig-zag pattern but i thought the clasp would add this back - NOT!
i'd take the size you want and multiply it by 2.5 and use that amount; multiply the bead wire x 3. if you have too much you can cut it off before you finish and add the clasp. each zig-zag bend is suppose to be done using the 1/8" part of your flat nose pliers. i probably breezed over that info and went further down on my pliers causing it to shorten the bracelet. gosh but the 1/8" part of the pliers is the very tip area - hard to grasp there and it might slip.
the next one will be longer! probably be a cat collar lol.

Kim I thought I saw that somewhere, I think I have that issue!
Do your round nose piliers slip when you try to twist the wire? I think I may be doing something wrong... - what a surprise!!!

tweetie i do not have good luck twisting wire. sands is a pro at it with the cordless drill. maybe he'll take some pics and show you how he does it. it works great.

Kim I meant trying to bend the wire - twisting is okay I got one of those pin-vise thingys and it's okay for a short lenght of wire - When I grab the wire to make a loop with the round-nosed pliers to make loops, the pliers twist out of whack - maybe I need a better technique.... I need a better grip too.

tweetie try grabbing on with your round-nose pliers and bending the wire around instead of moving the pliers.

WOW-very cool Kim. I always have trouble getting the right size for my bracelets-they either end up way big (8") or tiny.
