Thanks for the nice replies! This one was a complete surprise, I cut open a pretty ugly & ordinary boulder opal rock with no color whatsoever on the outside and the inside was this stunning pattern. I almost had a heart attack when I saw it, I love this stuff!

Wow. And again, wow, wow, holy cow wow! I never knew a rock could look like that! I'm sure your pic doesn't do it justice, pics never do. You can actually see the 'fire' in so many spots, and that's hard to bring out in a pic!
Are you tumbling to finish, or polishing another way?
And, what are you going to do w/it when it's done? If you don't have a plan, I would recommend (if you don't do it yourself) having one of the RTH experts do an amazing wire wrap pendant.

And, what's up with the man-made opals? I didn't realize that there is such a thing. Personally, I don't think man could create a rock like that. I think a higher power had something to do with it!
