Anyone that likes green will sure get a fix here, Jamie. All beautiful, but I like the blue Azurite the best - almost like Pietersite.

The top most surrelite has to be my fave. I think it is the dark background. How is this rock distinct from other copper-oxide compounds?

Well I'm impressed Jamie. Excellent cabs on some great material. You got the chrysocolla to take a nice shine, something I always have problems with. Nice shapes too, which is another problem area for me because I always seem to hit a soft spot. The auzurite is fantastic looking. Are you sure that's not pietersite?!

wow - very nice! I love looking at all the pieces you guys cut! There's definitely a lot of art that goes into it. I don't even try to pick a favorite any more - I end up liking so many of them! That azurite really catches your (well, my!) eye!

Thanks everyone. Daniel, the Surrealite is in a matrix that is so hard, actually the blubs of chrysocolla are in a matrix that is like cryptonite (sp?).

I pulled up a couple of pictures of the surrealite so you can see what it looks like before its cut into a cab Usually chrysocolla is found in quartz, sometimes granite or something else but this black stuff is so hard, I'm guessing a 9 on Mohs scale. This rock reminds me of what an oil spill in a puddle looks like, really colorful and an odd mixture of colors that look like they are flowing together. The azurite was found in crystal formation, actually was azurite and malachite crystal nodule thingys, (just pretend thingys is a word) anyway, that material had to be stabilized or it wouldn't have held up on the wheels. The crystal patterns can still be seen, thats probably what you are thinking is similar to the flashes in Pietersite.

That Azurite cab is THE BOMB! I'm in lust... The rough "surrealite" is pretty cool, too...
NOTE TO SELF - visit Jamie soon. ;DS
