I read your post again Shain, are you saying you don't think this is Bronzite? Or that you don't think Bronzite is the same as Hypersthene? i'm confused.

Jamie, what you just said there in that long post is to me what you said that wire wrap talk was to you, except I have no funny translation like you did. Hmmmm, wish I did
I understood the cat-eye look thing. *off to bash my head against a wall*

Hmm, I'd have to say that rock looks like about 85% awesome-cab-ite and about 15% can't-stop-drooling-on-the-keyboard-ite. And it defenitly belongs to the "Amazing-cab, I'm speachless" group of minerals (Ed seems to like cutting those rocks too). I bet it really sparkels. I gotta say #2 is a showstopper too. It's got so much going on in it. It looks like a different cab from every angle and the colors are amazing. Beautiful work. Steve

Dang, that is good. Never seen bronzeite before. I like it. That WWR cab is something else. All those inclusions are just unreal.

Wow Jamie, those are really cool but that 2nd one is just amazing. It's so cool when you can see right into them like that.
Smidgen? We been handing out smidgens up here since before time ... or almost anyway. Actually thought to be possibly of Scottish origin.

Thanks everyone! Tweet, don't bang your head, the scientific perspective of a rock is not that interesting to most people, all of your wire wrapping science IS though. When the abbreviations are used........They look about the same as the wire jibberish too!

Jamie, as i know it, The Bronzite ive seen and worked for a number of years. is not Hypersthene. Hypersthene mainly a black matrix stone, and bronzite a copper matrix stone. However, knowing how often chemically, miners dont stick to trends. And the go ole ego takes over and siad miners put a name on something it may or maynot should go by. Becasue chemically there may be a similar animal on the block. However, ive only seen Hypersthene for sale in the last couple years. Bronzite ive seen over 6years on the market coming from Wyoming in small quanities. And all the sellers and miners ive seen selling Hypersthene in the last two years. Noone was selling it as Bronzite. Your comparsion is the frist ive seen stating they are the same materials. Im not debating they could be chemically similar, or have traights in them that make them similar. I just dont think they are the same mineral, or rock, and the original bronzite i know of comes from Wyoming, not NY. At least from my experince in the market of buying rough bronzite and cutting it. I havent cut or bought any Hypersthene yet. But after seeing a boat load recently, i bet they do work similar. Color wise though, the few tons of Hypersthene i saw recently was not copper in color matrix. The matrix is black, or very dark. With possible copper flash colors, as well as others, like in your cab. And without really knowing 100% that they could be the same beast. I would call your cab Hypersthene, but not Bronzite. Here a thread i posted in September; forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/index.cgi?board=ccabs&action=display&thread=1159215547 The two frist cabs is Brozite from Wyoming.

After reading your reply, i wouldnt dout either are similar. Just what ive bought over the years as Broznite, which looks Bronze in color, in in rough. Did not come from NY, and was not sold as Hypersthene. I wouldnt dout they are both PYROXENE group minerals, forms of ENSTATITE. As im talking trade name use, not mineral or chemical name use.

The Broznite i know Daniel, is private and very little comes to the open market. Ive only seen it for sale in Quartzsite, but not this past year. Ocastionally i see a slab or piece come up for sale on ebay. But very rarly.
