Wow, what an avalanche of positive replies! Thank you everyone, folks! Tou're too kind! That Brasilian material seemed to be perfect, the wheel "stole" me the cab twice while polishing it and nothing wrong had happened. I doubt that a local material would be so forgivefull. I'm also glad that the path I've followed is basicly correct. Thank you Ed for confirming that. Zoran, thanks neighbor! Adrian

Awesome, Adrian!!!! Glad to hear that new machine is getting a workout! I second the ultrasonic cleaner idea. I bet that will do the trick.

way to go, Adrian! you certainly have a natural talent for cabbing. have you tried taking an old toothbrush to scrub the druzy? regular dish soap or maybe a little baking soda?

Gorgeous!!!!! Can you help another Newbie? I have an ancient combo unit I got from a neighbor and cleaned up. I did purchase a new blade (tile cutting) from H. Depot but there are two grinding wheels that are in good shape. On the end of the unit there's a solid wheel which I've purchased a replacement piece of leather and wire for. I'd like to know what you're using that flexible. Maybe I can take off one of these wheels and make something like yours?

Quick! Send me the cab! I have an ultrasonic cleaner that's just begging for it. I use my ultrasonic cleaner for many things including cleaning dirt and polish from druzy, and other cavities. I also use it for removing polish during my jewelry making and for removing polish from the cab/dop stick so the dop doesn't get contaminated. It works great for all of these purposes. They aren't terribly expensive and they last a long time (25+ years so far). For cleaning druzy and jewelry I use cheap liquid dishwashing detergent (about a teaspoon full) and cheap liquid ammonia (not the sudsy type). About 1/4 cup. Mix with hot water. These measurements are for a 1 quart size ultrasonic. Run for about 30 seconds and it will come out clean. Use only the detergent when cleaning a cab/dop stick. The ammonia degrades the dop wax. Bob
