Bought a grinder from JSGems last Friday at the Austin, TX Gem show. I'm pretty happy about it to say the least.... Here's the grinder... Barranca GP-6 diamond... My first one was going pretty good until the leather pad grabbed it and tossed it on the garage floor... it was a clean brake so it was super glued back together... hahaha... here it is. Woodward Ranch Agate I finished that one at about 1:00am Sunday morning and then worked these up after a brief nap. same WWR more WWR Crazy Lace.. Didn't quite get that flat spot out.. WWR Agate This is green zebra agate.. I think my 8K paste stained it yellow... ugh... My finger nails are ground paper thin now but I don't care!!! Thanks for lookin'.... Dan

That's a nice piece of equipment Dan. I love the first cab, shame about the break.

Is it you doing such a great job or is it the grinder doing the great job? Bob

Very cool, Dan. Nice unit and nice work. How many hours did you spend on it the first day?

Thanks for the nice comments everyone. I think I spent about 5 hours on it the first day. After the first one I did 3 at a time to keep from having to change out the belts for each stage and each cab. (does that make sense?) I think I like the first one best as well but the last WWR agate is really pretty in the sunlight, the pic doesn't do it justice. Brian... I'll send you a PM with the price.... Matt... you're welcome to come by the house anytime to try it out. It's quite addictive. Dan

Wow nice looking unit Dan! Really like the way the wheels are far apart. My Genie has them too close together for convenient working on big cabs. Hard to pick a fav from the cabs but I really like that first Woodward Ranch piece. I cab over a rug so I don't lose so many when they shoot off the sticks ( and my dop wax must be old cause I've had three shoot off in the last few days....Mel

Glad you finally got a grinder, Dan. I know you've been wanting one for quiet some time.
Great cabs!

I can hardly wait to see what you'll be turning out now that you have a grinder Dan! I can also hardly wait until I can afford a cab grinder and lapidary work space of my own.

So glad to see your shiny work again! That first slim cab is gorgeous, with its bold shape and mirror shine.

I'll probably take you up on that offer, Dan, for a cabbing lesson if nothing else. I am agitating for a two-wheel Lortone arbor for Christmas--figure I can add the diamond wheels from jadecarver and find a motor and put it together piecemeal. Of course, that all means I will have to acquire a slab saw, too.
A guy can dream.

Nice Dan great shine what grit are your wheels? And do you use a diamond paste for the final? I can't seem to get a shine that good. Jason
