Hello Fellow RTHers, I’ve been sponsoring a fun little Contest all about rocks, gems, minerals, and stones over on another Forum and I think I have found an Item ( Lady B’s “I Say—You Say” Contest: Part 6—Item #20) that is proving to be very challenging. Sooooooo I thought: What if I sponsored a super mini, super “easy” Contest here at RTH, as well?!?!  I’m calling this Contest “The Answer to Item #20” Contest. Here are the details: - This Contest follows a simple word association format: I provide a word or words; you answer with an associated word or words. In this Contest I am going to say a word or words related to “rocks”, gems, minerals, and “stones”. Your answer will be a word or words directly associated with mine.
For example: If I were to say “Poppy”, you would say “Jasper”. If I were to say “March Birthstone”, you would say “Aquamarine”.
But of course there is a “kicker” for my Contest or it wouldn’t be much fun, now would it? ;D
In my Contest, when I say my word or words, your answer MUST contain the word “rock” or “stone” or the name of a gem or a mineral as part of the answer! 
For example: If I were to say “Doris Day”, you would say “Rock Hudson”. If I were to say “James Bond”, you would say “Goldfinger”. If I were to say “A measure of weight”, you would say “A stone”. See how easy that is? 
- All answers must be submitted via a PM to ladybeabea. You may submit as many answers as you can think of for this Contest, but only one answer per PM, please.
- There will be a prize for the first person who successfully answers the clue to Item #20 either here or at the other Forum (a small slab of zoisite/fuchsite with embedded rubies, similar to the small slabs pictured below) BUT there will also be small prizes (cab-size pieces of Pet Wood) offered for each correct answer submitted during the course of this Contest.
- To be eligible to win a prize for this mini-Contest, all entries must be received by 12 Midnight ET, October 21, 2007. I will announce the winner(s) on their respective Forums on Monday, October 22, 2007.
That’s it. A nice, simple, one-question contest. Ready to play? Okay…here goes! “The Answer to Item #20” Contest Item #20. I say Where Herman Munster sat while entertaining Maureen Stapleton? ---------- You say _________________________. Oh! There is one small detail I haven't mentioned yet. Hey 'dem's those green muffins with cranberries! I checked, Tweet, and I think these taste more like candied cherries! ;D Now here's an answer that I just have to share with all of you... A few minutes ago agateheaven sent me her answer to Item #20: I say Where Herman Munster sat while entertaining Maureen Stapleton? ---------- You say "on the Fluorite next to her!" Isn't that one incredibly funny and very, very clever answer?!?! Unfortunately for agateheaven it's not the right answer, but she is getting a prize anyway because she made me laugh so hard! ;D Lady B |

Super easy, HAH! Well, ummmm, I might have s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d the truth just a little bit...it might not be all that easy. Here's a big clue, though. The answer is definitely not as simple as "on a rocking chair" or "on a rocking horse". Big help, huh? ;D Lady B |

Well there have been some very interesting answers but no exact matches so I thought I would be nice and give you a bit of help. These are the only gems or minerals that could be in the exact match answer: Copper, Diamond, Gold, Ruby, and Silver; or the answer could have the words ‘ Rock’ and/or ‘ Stone’ in it.  Have fun! Here I thought I was helping...at least now you know the answer cannot be " He was sitting in the Emerald City" or " He was sitting on an ironing board." Where is the Love?  Yes, I am simply crushed...it's as if someone dropped a lodestone on my head! I am just feeling stone cold now. Almost makes me think I should come up with a full-fledged Contest here at RTH. Akanasan, I don't think she has an answer. I think it's an unanswerable question that only she knows the answer to because she made it up.

I have the answer! And it is a very good answer, too! And it's a real answer...not something I made up out of rock dust and epoxy either! It's just not an easy to figure out answer. ;D Unless of course you have a convoluted thinking process like mine. So... Welcome to my parlour, said the Spider to the Fly... So far nearly a dozen people have attempted to solve this one little, itty bit of a clue...but I still have my slab! I keep it right next to my rocking chair. This contest is now officially closed. Deputy Harry was the only RTH member to come up with the correct answer. That answer will be posted here on Tuesday (the main Contest of which this item is just one of 200, is still running on another Forum. Wouldn't want to give away an answer. ;D).

The Contest is officially closed at both Forums so I am finally able to post the answer to Part 6 Item #20. Here 'tis: Oops!! Sorry...the answer can no longer be posted because I am up to my usual torurous antics elsewhere on the Internet and I can't make it too easy for Contestants, now can I?!!! OK so that's the answer huh? Kinda meaningless without telling us how the heck you came up with it. Now please tell us the path you followed to come up with it!.....Mel
Oh never mind, I looked it up. Gotta say that one was very thin and the initial you say made it pretty darn tough without your clue.
Munster is in Ireland. I got that right off. Maureen is an Irish name and everything else is misdirection as there was no Herman sitting on anything etc... Hmmmm....Pretty darn abstract if ya ask this old boy!

This clue probably was very meaningless here, alone, at RTH but I did give the link for the full contest posted on another Forum, and there I gave many, many examples of how answers could be wriggled out of strange clues. Critical Information Has Been Edited Out. I never once claimed all the clues would be direct, obvious links to the respective answers.  The scariest part of this is not that I came up with this crazy clue but rather that Harry solved it! ;D Several RTH Members came up with very funny answers and Tony (tonyterner) was right on the edge of solving it but didn't quite go far enough. Thank you to all who participated. I promise my next two or three contests here at RTH won't be nearly so...so...hmmm.... I'll have to think about that for a bit! ;D Lady B |
