just didn't anyone accidentally looking without forewarning.... it's still cold downstairs, but i heated up some water and had a session on the grinder. FINALLY! here are a few that i managed to finish, first a trio of 14mm x 10mm pieces, the purple stuff was from Jamie, don't know what it is....the other two are a lce and a mexican lace, the top one looks like a little monkey face to me: this next one is a 30mm x 20mm piece of Snowdog's Candycane Jasper, thanks again, Dave: the next two are from material that Steve Holmes sent me, this first one (25mm x 18mm) is kind of serpentine like, soft but nice patterning: this second one (18mm x 13mm), he sent me to evaluate the "cabability", and it's quite nice, tumbles pretty well too, don't what it is though? this is a 25mm x 18mm marramamba: and this one (also 25mm x 18mm) is a superb piece of petrified wood that Kev (cpdad) sent to me, i have a few more pieces from this slab dopped and ready to go: this is a piece of material that Jamie sent me, i had a small piece break off right at the final buff stage, so i went back and it's more egg shaped now, nice stuff tho, don't know what it is either and this last (30mm x 20mm) one is probably my favorite, i cut this slabbette from a hunk that Jamie sent me and just KNEW it was going to be a stunning cab....again, don't know what it is exactly, something she found in her famous exploits. hey, thanks for looking! KD

I think that the oval is underappreciated nowdays since the "freeform" is now all the rage. But I have found that a nice simple, balanced oval will often show off a stone better than a multi-cornered busy freeform cab. Great job!

There is nothing boring about these ovals. The cab's shape should properly frame the scene and these all do. Trying to force a scene into a particular shape produces a lesser cab. The scene should dictate the shape.

Great cabs. I especially like that Candy cane Jasper, but also favs from this group are Serpentinite and Idontknowit (if I can see right from here with pyrite). Good work, KD. Congrats. Zoki

Yep, boring. Especially the one with the tornado on the mountains, I like that one best.

KD, thanks for the warning. I was browsing through these almost falling asleep, then I came across the Marra Mamba. BAM, wide awake!!! Pretty awesome and love that stone for some reason. Of course I was just kidding around about the first ones, very nice indeed. Where did you find the Marra Mamba stone??

Those are all awesome, KD! Nothing boring there! I think my favorite is the last unknown, although that pet wood is really, really sweet too!

Gorgeous cabs KD! That Pet Wood is my Favorite...the colors and patterns in that are just too nice. I like the copper ore stuff I sent you too....and have no idea what the other one is. Some great scenes in those cabs too KD. Thanks for sharing! Steve

Oh yeah, each one is more boring than the next! That's why I took the time to study each one!! Way nice cabs, glad it's warming up for you.
