cgi.ebay.com/6-POUND-ROCK-BLACK-SAND-TUMBLERS_W0QQitemZ320246591725The barrel is Lortone, and the design looks exactly like Lortone, but the brand does not seem to be Lortone. Nor does the price. So anybody know the scoop here? On some of the other listings I can see what looks like a Lortone sticker on the unit. But this guy sells "Rock & Sand" brand 3lb for $69 and Lortone brand for $80. --- Actually, looking cloase the listing say "Lortone quality", which may not be the same as "a quality Lortone" I wonder if these are counterfits or something. LIke if I saw the lable clearly would it say "Lorntone" or something.

daniel i just logged out and happened to see this....i dont know if something is funny or not....but this caught my eye....so i logged back in.
These units have LORTONE patented molded rubber barrels with quick-seal closures....it says nothing about the motors or frames....i believe its a china knock off of motor and frame.
and if so...as i believe....as you must have also.....the seller should be raked over any coals with hot ass fire ....if possibble.
the lortone name is being used....but i have no doubt the motor and frame is not theres....hope im wrong....but me dont think so....if i am....hope all is well...kev.

Not only are they stealing the Lortone name but the Lortone color too. Once again China shows no respect for US patents. Probably Lortone is having their manufacturing done in China and they has started production on their own line of tumblers...

If you do a search for "black sand tumblers" you'll find quite a pages listing Lortones and using the same picture as in the auction.

Yes CHer, that is how I found the lapidarysolutions.com page. But that page does say Lortone tumblers, even though they mention blue / black sand.
I am starting to think that this ebay seller does not know much about tumblers and just took the terxt from a page like lapidarysolutions.com. They mistook the "blue / black sand" phrase for the kind of tumbler. - Even the description of the motor is word for word the same as the lapidary solutions page. Likely they were just too uninformed to know that offering Lortone tumblers would be a good thing.

It does appear to be a Lortone. I tried blowing the picture up to see if I could read the label but it got too pixilated. It appears that the seller is selling Lortone on eBay without the sense to say so.
Apologies for my China not respecting US Patents. It's one of my hot buttons. But this is not the time or the place to go into it. So I'm zipping my lip.

It does seem almost too incredible that the seller does not have the sense to say they are Lortone.
I also wishe he would take a pic of his stock. Using the image from the Lortone page is not only illegal, but what if the actual one does not look exactly like the picture - all that is promised is a Lortone drum.

If you go to the seller's ebay store, you'll see at least one listing calling it a Lortone; and the prices are essentially the same as lapidary solutions.

Actually, I refer to that listing above. It says Lortone quality, as opposed to "a quality Lortone"
But, overall, I think these are Lortone. because of the price structure and location etc. Still the seller appears to be tumbler ignorant.
