Tony is right....we need to get a meeting place dialed in. I'm looking at about a 6 hour drive and I'd hate not to meet up with all you characters on the trip.....

There are several exits to take for some really good rock hunting areas. I like to hunt off Exit 175. To get to the yellow cat area, it's a little further down the road. I don't care if we meet at Exit 175 or another. If we want to meet in town, (Green River, Utah) there are several hotels right off the HWY. I will be leaving Friday with a pit stop in Price. I should be there early evening though. I am looking forward to meeting a bunch of you....and hanging out with the ones I already know! Steve

Is this a camping trip or are we staying in motels? Doesn't much matter to me, I can go either way.

Camping for me too. Have Ozzy designate a place for us all to meet. I'll be in Vegas starting tomorrow so won't be around much. The rock clubs are all meeting off Exit 175 down the road and around an old corral area. Never been where they meet..but don't know if we want to meet in the same place. Maybe we could meet down a couple more exits closer towards the Yellow Cat area. It doesn't matter much to me. Steve

Well 8 hours in the truck is just exactly what I am going to need by then!! I plan on leaving here Thursday after work, visiting my son in Layton Thursday night, and arriving down there sometime Friday probably around noon or so. I will look on the web tonight and see if I can find a campground close by, anyone from the area know of one we could all meet at?

I have found several campgrounds.
Swasey Beach is a very pleasant picnic area with primitive camping available. It is set along a bend in the Green River at the mouth of Grays Canyon with a sandy beach and tall cottonwoods. It is along the Green River about 12 miles North of I70. Open camping spots, run by BLM, has a vault toilet, no water, cost is FREE.
San Rafael Bridge Campground is a primitive (and not very attractive) BLM campground along the San Rafael River in the terrifically desolate San Rafael Swell. It is located about 45 miles northwest of Green River. 45 miles northwest of Green River in the San Rafael Swell, run by BLM, has 8 sites, open year round, cost is $5.
Green River State Park has a pleasant modern campground along the Green River in town. It's shaded by cottonwoods and has nice lawns. In the town of Green River, State or Local Agency. 42 sites, open year round, $14, reservations may be required. Lush parklike setting, Cable, Pull through for the biggest RV's. Tent sites, Playground. Park your rig or pitch a tent. Laundry, Carwash, Mini store and Blimpie's. 350 East Main Green River, UT 84525 Phone: 435-564-8290 commercial site, no published costs.
Green River KOA New owners welcome you to this KOA, located on Business Loop 70 just across from the John Wesley Powell River History Museum. Fine dining is available at the Tamarisk Restaurant, across from the campground office. Take a day trip to Arches and Canyonlands National Parks or take a river trip with Holiday Expeditions, located just outside the campground entrance. Enjoy 80-foot pull thru sites with large, grassy areas. Some sites come with 50-amp service and cable TV. All sites have access to free Wi-Fi. Enjoy the 22×50-foot pool, complete with a slide (Pool dates are subject to the temperature of the pool water). The Green River KOA is your home away from home. Don’t miss the Green River Melon Days festival in September. This campground will be open all year beginning May 1, 2007. Limited services are available from October 15 to March 15. No additional fees for children 12 and under. Location: In the town of Green River Operator: Commercial Total Sites: 77 sites Season: April to October Address: 235 South 1780 East Green River, UT 84525 Toll-Free: 800-562-5734 Phone: 435-564-8195 reservations required
If anyone knows of any other places or just a place we can all camp that would be fine, also, but we need to make it so we can all find it.

A friend of mine shared with me that several other clubs will be lodging at camp floyd which is about 10 minutes from Cisco/Yellow cat road...there is a big powow going on down there, because of the Moab gem show is happening during that same weekend.
I think we are going to have fun ya'll!!!

I am liking Swasey Beach Campground, it is free, and there is no drinking water available, so be sure to bring some water containers. I have a water pump so we can pump and purify water from the river as we need it. Whoever gets there first look for a big enough spot we can set up several tents together, from what I understand on the net this is a pretty popular spot for the mountain bikers and river rafters, but if we get there before the weekend rush, we should be able to get a pretty good spot. The best directions I was able to find is about 12 miles north of I70 along the Green River.

Well I did a little more looking and found these directions. They seem a little more detailed.
Access to Swasey's Beach and campground begins from the Green River Visitor Center in downtown Green River. You then progress east along Main Street to the intersection with Hastings Road. Turn left (north) and follow the relatively flat road for 6.3 miles to the intersection with a dirt road just before a ranch entrance. Turn right onto this road and follow it for 3.8 miles to Swasey Beach and the river rapid of the same name just upstream. No reservations are taken for this campground.

Sounds great Scott...I was thinking if everyone would like to bring slabs/tumbled stuff/or rough for trading with each other...I always like to swap for other stuff...I'll be sure to bring some cool stuff to share with everyone.
See you all at Swassey Beach Next Week.

What plans do we have for meeting up on Saturday morning? I may not be able to make it Friday night so I'm just curious where to link up with everyone Sat morning. If I can't get out of work early Friday, I may only be able to drive halfway to Delta and then another 3 hours Sat am to get to Green River. Let me know what you think.
Thanks, Matt
