I want to make a display case of cabs. What I need is a rock of any type from each state. I know not all states have a state rock. However any local rock from the state would be fine as long as it can be identified.
So what I need help with is for all you guys and gals to send me a small slab or rock from your state. Just enough to make a cab.

How about if you have a stonecutter from each state cut you a cab of local material?
Got a NM cab almost done...

I will leave it up to the sender. That way people can send either one.

My cab dream is to make a chess board containing 64 squares of different agate and jasper. I would need to slab the squares myself to get the same height and cutting the squares would be easy, but I don't have the sanding and polishing equipment. Cutting 64 square buff top cabs is more than I would want to take on.

I know tatiana is covering Massachusetts, but I have rocks galour picked my self from Nantasket Beach (which is an historical beach around these parts). I can send you a few really pretty ones if you like. Let me know.
PS I'd offer to slab them but I can't, no real tools or experience yet.

I'm thinking that NY is the only state with not much in good rock. Where I live (WNY), the only native rock is sandstone and shale...the rest was pushed over here from Canada by glaciers. Some one out East can come up with some garnet maybe.

I like Susans Idea; but I can do/ be the Utah Guy! Let us know Jeremy what you'd rather like. A slab, or a cab. Steve The offical state rock is Septarian, Gem is Topaz, and Mineral is Copper. I could send you the Topaz or Septarian, and you could polish it. I have my own private source for Septarian. I live in Central Utah, Richfield.
