I got the cabbing machine set up and got a few hours to play with it. I did this one last week, Rocky Butte The rest of these I did today. I really like the desert scene in this cab a piece of burro creek I tried to copy Sandsmans' "cabojohns", his are much better, but I really like the looks of the angles. this is a broken piece of slab, I just followed the shape as it broke. I spent a few hours playing around on these and thought I had been there for about a half an hour. Thanks for looking..............Tony

Those are nice! One day maybe I'll have the money for a machine to do that! I like the desert scene and the one that broke. Looks nice with the curved sides!

Most excellent work! Someday, after I move back to NM, my next big purchase will be a cabbing machine. Great stuff and like Brian, I like the desert scene in the Apache Rhyolite. THanks for sharing!

Oh, these are so nice! I have been upstairs on my machine for the past couple of hours but I have only been grinding out some shapes. I am giving my machine a rest (and my hands). Keep up the great work! Fran

Very nice first attempts. Those inside curves still elude me.

I think we have a "Natural" cabber! Your doing great Tony. I like the crazy Lace best. I still have problems with those inside curves myself. Steve

For your fist attempt at cabbing you are doing an excellent job. As a lapidary instructor I see you have a natural talent. Keep up the great work.

I love love love the shape on the last one that you 'followed'. The curves are beautiful - would make a really gorgeous bezel setting.

Great first cabs! Wow I never knew you hadn't cabbed before, your a natural. Those are better than my first. The cabbing machine is also a time machine (only works to take you to the future faster)

Those are some great first time cabs; better than mine were. I like the desert scene the best too.

Tony, those are great! Congrats on you first. I absolutely love that last one and how you followed the lines of a broken slab. Truely an art to take something broken and shape it to beauty.

Thanks everyone, you all are too kind.
I watched Stoner really close at Burro Creek whenever he played on the cabber, and I have been watching this board for a long time, waiting to get the equipment. I really got to make some dop sticks though, my finger tips are still hurting.........lol.
Thanks for all your kind remarks...............Tony

Hey Tony, I'm sure once you do a few cabs with a dop stick....you won't go back to the fingers. I, for one...have to use a dop! I've only tried a few times without one, and that's because the cab fell off the dop stick and I was too lazy to put it back. Doesn't take to many cabs without a dop; to remember why I like it so much. Everyone of course has their own opinion. Steve

Tony you have the skill, Great start too. I saw the jade you got and it looks sweet, I would wait to grind that stuff though as it will really piss you off. Undercutting is the worst, and trying to polish is a serious pain in the Arse! Look forward to your next ones.
