Bitten my horse flies, nagged by gnats, polishing over scratches and cabs flying into space. The best part of the day was not getting any abrasions on my fingers. Blue Mountain (polished over scratches), morrisonite (probably lop sided), ocean jasper (this one should have been great but material chipped off during sanding, surface cracks from polishing and cab went flying and got gouged. I can recut this one), Youngite (needs bottom rounded) crazy lace (may need to be resanded and polished).

My advise is Get Going and glue some tops on them and SELL THEM or maybe give them away your choose. don't worry about being lop sided or not rounded enough people will buy them anyway and sometimes the weirder the shape the faster they sell and that is from experience

My advise is Get Going and glue some tops on them and SELL THEM or maybe give them away your choose. don't worry about being lop sided or not rounded enough people will buy them anyway and sometimes the weirder the shape the faster they sell and that is from experience I have over 70 8 1/2 x 11 ryker boxes full of cabs I cut. A lot of them need a little work before I would consider selling them. Some of them aren't worth spending more time. If I ever started selling, I would throw them in as bonuses. I have limited free time and would rather create than sell. Some of the pieces could be better, but my skill level needs to be higher. I am satisfied with what I can do now and really enjoy cabbing. If I blew up the scan of the ocean, it wouldn't be easy on the eyes. It will be a great cab someday. My wife says that if you are cutting a symmetrical shape it should by symmetrical and if you are cutting a free form it shouldn't look like a lopsided symmetrical and thus a mistake. Scanning cabs instead of photographing them makes some cabs look better than they are and some really beautiful cabs look ordinary. Once again, I would rather spend my free time cabbing and at least the scans give an idea of what I have completed.

Sounds like a rough day! From here, the cabs do look good, though.
And I completely agree with your wife. My sister gave me the same advice when I first started playing with cabs - if it's going to NOT be symmetrical, it needs to be obvious that it was planned.

They look mighty good to me! At least with them that far along it won't be so time consuming to sweeten them up. T

You got some great material and I like the shapes. The OJ is some of the best I have seen; definately worth the additional time. The blue mountain looks pretty near perfect.

It's always tough when you have one of those days when things just don't seem to be going your way. The cabs look great, though!

I tend to be my own worst critic as well. Despite the technical difficulties you have some good looking material there and interesting shapes as well. Just remember one man's trash is another man's treasure.

I understand what you are saying, but those really look terrific. That youngite is beautiful and the ... hell, they're all beautiful. And you will make them beautifuler, if possible.
You always have great material, too.
Thanks for sharing.
