Hi Mark, /Conrock
Hope you dont mind me jumping in
The easy way is still Toms ring round the bottom Nub I use a Key ring and bungy cord
cliping the bungie cord to the chassie could cause the rubber barrel to vibrate down on to the Nub catching the chassis as you had before

The lid on the Lot-O is the only thing I don't like about it. Otherwise it's a wonderful machine. I got so ticked at mine I threw it away. Tom's idea is a good one and I used it for a while, but it was too labor intensive for me. ;D I now put a piece of plastic wrap across the top and secure it with a rubber band. In the polish stage I only have to check it once a day and can sometimes go a couple of days without adding water. Don't stretch the plastic tight across the top or the rubber band will pop off. Give it a little slack. Curt

So far I've seen no downward movement of the barrel, but if it becomes an issue it'll be easy enough to convert to using a ring around the nub and a slightly longer cord. My greater concern is that the steel hook on the cord might start abrading a groove into the frame. I guess I'll find out within a month or 2 whether the hook is as hard as the frame... Mark

This thread is great!
It shows the necessity is truly the mother of invention!

Hi Mark1, on my Loto I use a double layer of plastic wrap and secure it with a rubber band. A fellow Michigander, Daniel

I just poke hole in the lids and when the holes get clogged I clean them or add more holes.
I agree about the need to run in a rotary; even with rounded beach pebbles or the like, they look better with at least one run through a rough cycle before they go in the vibe.

I had a disaster with the angelite I had in my Lot O -- the lid popped right off the tumbler and everything not only dried out, but all the angelite shattered Now I'm put a piece of Stretch and Seal (the sticky kind you use for freezing stuff) over the opening and put the lid on on top of it. The Stretch and Seal sticks to the tumbler and you have to "peel" it off, so it's pretty air tight. Tumbling a new batch of angelite in the vibe right now and I hope this one comes out!

Maybe I'll try the stretch and seal. I just started covering the top with regular plastic wrap before putting the lid on and strapping it down. I does seem to hold the moisture in better with the wrap, but I have no confidence in using just a rubber band to hold it on.

Quick correction -- I meant PRESS 'n Seal, not Stretch and Seal. It's blue -- or it was when I first bought it a year or so ago -- and for freezing meat and stuff.

Roan, Any luck with the press n seal? Yah, works GREAT! My first couple of tumbles with the Lot O were wonderful, then . . . not so much and problems with the slurry drying out. I have two barrels (one for polish only) and both the lids probably "stretched" and were letting air in. Now when I pop the lid off I can see moisture collected under the Press 'n Seal and the slurry is nice and consistent under there. I don't have to spritz the rocks as often, too. Eileen
