That is a great batch. Love that redish/orangy one with the crackled look to it in the second pic. just seems to stand out. Have a great trip.

I've had some luck with minimizing the chips by adding more smaller rocks, this will cushion them. Just add any old scrap, the vibe tumbler must be around 3/4 full to work properly. Also, there should be only enough water to make the grit stick to the rocks.

They look good now. I can only imagine how they will look later. Way to go.

Great job! Please follow up when they are totally done with more pics, including some closeups! Great agates.

Finally done. Still had a little problem in the final polish but not as bad as before. Next time I need to be a purest and keep the agates separate from the jaspers and crazy lace. They didn't like each other. Fran

A solid jasper will tumble fine with agates, the problem I run in to with crazy lace is the hardness varies throughout the stone. A jasper with an even hardness like most picture jaspers, red jasper, fancy jasper and many more are almost the same hardness and will shine as good and sometimes even better. I always take note of which rocks do bad in the vibe, and I won't do them again. (like Picasso jasper).... that stuff is like trying to tumble mud.

I'm a little let on the chipping issue, but I always use two different sizes of ceramics in my vibe.

Nice batch of agate! Love the green moss and the Lakers. I agree too. More smaller rocks as filler will decrease the amount of chipped stones and give you a better final polish...Mel

Hi Fran,
Hey you have some stunning stones in there, I had a lot of fun looking through your pictures. Those Carnelians are always a favourite of mine, I love the outside "crackles" as much as the pure smooth looking Carnelian inside. The Banded Agates in that batch are real eyecatchers, I go all goey eyed when I see nice Agates like those! Your Green Mosses are excellent too! Hope your trip is fun!
Cheers,
Sparkles.
