I went scrounging around ebay, looking for just the right stone for my cat's fountain. Didn't find one. Shouldn't have gone looking. I did run across this...and had to purchase it. Have to say, the chunk of Mohawk Jasper I have from two years ago looks nothing like this: Here's the chunk I already have (Perhaps that's the one that can go to my cat? ): Now I get the pleasure of filling the rest of the box!

That sure is beautiful. I know some minerals can fade. probably not the case with this but thats what your older one looks like next to your newest purchase.

Its the fractures that always put me off. I have half-hartedly riffled through some fo the 4x4 bins of this suff locally. I think if I ever got a water bottle and knocked off some matrix I would find a few pieces I want. But I don't need that.
Do you have a sketch for the fountian, possibly a base container. Will a hole need to be drilled? I would love to search for suitable rocks.

Yeah, I knew looking at the piece that the fractures might or might not be healed. But I love the solid blue section as well as the ends. As for the cat's fountain, it's all pretty sketchy in my head. I'd rather not have to drill, just because I'm not set up for deep hole saw drilling - no drill press, and I'm pretty sure you can't do that with a cordless drill or a dremel. So my thought was either two pieces epoxied with a hole notched out of one of them or multiple pieces carefully placed to hide a tube. It will have a square of cat grass (wheatgrass) as well. The real constraint comes to color. If I could decide on a color, it would go more quickly. (I'm decided between two bases currently - a terra cotta one and a clear glass...)

Here is the bin I looked at. I was interested in the piece with the black/white/blue.
