Tony: It may not be petrified wood, but it is nice looking. Petrified wood can fool you though. Here is a picture of the chunk I found near Mt. Saint Helens. I thought that it was a nice 20 lb piece of red jasper. After looking at the outside, which had a bark like appearance, I got curious. So I cut and polished one face. I Looked at it carefully with a loupe and was able to find a few small areas that actually had the cell structure left. It is now one of my favorite wood specimens. I don't think I have ever seen any other petrified wood from Washington that had this same color. There are also quite a few limb casts from different areas of the US that don't have any cell structure. chasfire
