I was off for 11 days over the holidays but only got a little time to cab. Here's what I managed to make. Adventurine. Flourite. I've since cut a groove in it using Bejewelme's new machine to try a groove wrap. A small dino bone. Bruneau jasper from a chunk that Builtonrocks sent me. When I slabbed this I knew I had to cab it right away. I love this stuff, it gets sooooo shiny. This one is going into my collection. Thanks John. Llahonite, at least that is what was written on the slab when I bought it at a flea market. I can't find any reference to this stone on the web so the spelling might be wrong. It supposedly comes from Nevada. This one has been grooved too. Picasso marble. Not to be confused with Picasso jasper. This comes from Utah and is a bit softer but polishes up nicely and has good patterns. I have a FRB of this if anyone wants to do a trade for a couple of pieces. Sugalite. My daughter picked this piece out and asked me to cab it for her. It got a decent shine as you can see the camera, tripod and my hand reflected in the darker area. Tiffany stone from Bejewelme's stash. Thanks for looking.

Gorgeous Tony! I got to see them in person and let me say, these are awesome pics, but the real things are awesomer! Shape, shine, design... they kill it! (and I'm not just trying to earn brownie points with the teacher, LOL) Jo

NIce cabs Tony! I think your "Llahonite" is probably Lahontonite also called Springtime Jasper (yours sure has springtime colors to it). Most of northern Nevada was once under Lake Lahontan, so finding out more exactly where it comes from is going to need an old timer who is more familiar with the stuff.

Nice dino and Picasso, but that Bruneau is amazingly nice! What kind of blade are you grooving with? Tony

Tony! You've taken some steps up! Way up! Beautiful material and you did a great job on all of them. I can see why you're going to keep the Bruneau and the bone is my favorite.

Thanks for posting the side view Tony. Very clean and straight groove, having a grooving machine pays off it seems.
What I'm confused is that those grooving machines exist, yet the "groove wrap" pendants do not seem to be very spread.

Adrian, I don't think they sell many of these machines for use with rock. Its marketed primarily towards glass but it handles rock just fine. The groove bit is extra and I'm not sure how many lapidary people even know it exists.

Great set of cabs! I really like the colors in the Sugalite and the pattern in the Tiffany stone. The Bruneau is also a sweet piece.
