I have to make a sound insulated space for my Vibratory Tumbler as I live in a Tower Apartment Block in the City.
There is a difference between sound proof and sound insulated. My other concern is as an energy as sound is absorbed, as an energy it transforms from sound into heat, so I will have to build some kind of coolant system in the space also, possibly.
The information and techniques in the link below should help.

Structural borne energy from a Rock Tumbler can be dampened with a Management Barrier.
Iām still researching the correct Barrier for my Vibratory Tumbler.

A great video, the Barrier and the Bell, a practical look to explain using a range of materials in construction a Barrier Management system. š

I ended up with the ice cooler option. I went to the Alco store on sunday and found the perfect size Styrofoam ice chest to fit over and around the tumbler. It's a heavy duty one. I covered up the tumbler and it cuts the sound pretty good. I'd post pictures, but it's just an ice chest over a tumbler....nothing special, but it works for my needs. Hey dscratch,
I'm late to the party, but I was wondering if the minisonic heats up? I know it doesn't have a motor, but does it need to be ventilated for heat disbursal? Just wondering as I'm planning on picking up one of these noisy guys. Just bought a fan and sound dampening moving blanket to fashion an insulated box w/ ventilation for my noisy Harbor Freight rotary, as the styrofoam coolers I could find were all too small for it to fit.
Thank you so much and glad to hear you found a solution to your problem!
