Good Job RANDY! I think a 10" saw is going to be on my 'next to buy' wish list. What type of saw do you have?? It looks like there are going to be plenty of pendants coming out of those slabs. Steve

Yeah...and what's the black stuff? It looks similar to some Brenda Agate Beef sent me. Is the purple Burro Creek?/ Steve

Holy crap Randy! That's a huge amount of slabs for a short period! My 10" saw has a power feed and goes way too slow for that. Two questions: What kind of blade are you running and how's it holding up under that kind of cutting pressure and how are you cutting that doggone fast? Are you hand feeding, or gravity feeding with a real heavy weight or using a power feed? Oh, and man that's some nice purple Burro creek...Mel

I'm not sure of what saw that I have, it's built very nicely (heavy-duty), I think that it may have been home-built. Yes, I do feed the rocks by hand, and right again, I'm using a Hotdog blade. I can do a cut in 2-4 minutes. Some of the smaller cuts I can do in a minute flat. I'm very hard on my blades, but that's my intention. I simply go out and buy more blades. ;D The only ID I can give is the black slabs with the yellow patterns, these are Cobra-Tiger jasper from Brazil. They are very hard. Everything else was sent to me by Jamie. I'll be doing more cutting starting tomorrow (68 deg), and 71 deg on Wed!! I ordered a bunch of settings from Exolite last night, and also received 100 feet of gold-filled wire on Friday so I'm almost ready for the summertime craft shows

Way to go and some mighty handsome rock! :-)

The "purple" is most likely the classic Burro Creek purple "Jasper".
None of us found any significant amounts of it on the RTH field trip back in '07, but since then I've learned from some old timers more specifically where to go look for it, so next time...

Thanks bud, I actually did have a blast. The only problem was that it got dark so I had to stop.
Northshore- Yep, that's pretty much it. I follow the lines in the saw table to keep my cuts straight. Another big help is that I'll cut a heal off, lay the rock on the faced part, and make another cut 90 degrees from the first. Once I decide on the pattern that I like the best, I'll use one of the faced (flat) parts of the rock to lay on the table so that all of my slabs are even (not tapered). Hmmmm, did that make any sense? ;D
