I am so grateful that this was posted! My dog,Blue,has ALL black nails. I always feel bad if I make one bleed, but didn't know how to judge where to trim or where to stop trimming. This is a HUGE relief, thank you! 😊

A dremel tool with a coarse grit sanding barrel. Works great for me and Grace.
Fine grit gets too hot a she jumps around.
