you know what after running the brass tumbler for about 3 days i decided that it wasnt agressive enough and really wasnt doing anything to my rocks....So i watched it for about 30 minutes or so and its just not strong enough...so i broke down and put my rocks in my lot-o-tumbler and they are off tumbling like little violent rocks in a tumbler should be....lol
MY RECOMMENDATION.....DO NOT USE A LYMANS TUMBLER TO TUMBLE ROCKS...EVEN ROUGH ROCKS.....ITS JUST NOT MADE TO TUMBLE ROCKS.....

Thanks Jay,
I haven't tried my Lyman yet - it's still sitting there unused. Based on your results, I'll probably just keep on using my tumblers.
Thanks

Well there again..............it depends on what kind of rocks you are tumbling.. Completely rough rock like agate.....its gonna take forever, especially using sand for grit. For my already rounded river rock, it works great.......not to mention using it for tumbling jewelry in stainless steel shot.
If I was going to tumble rough rock, I would run it through a coarse grind cycle in my rotary before transferring to the Lyman.

That all makes since. I'll try mine on some rounded river rock. That will be great, since then I can polish the river rock and not have to wait on one of the rotary tumblers to be free.
Thanks again, everyone.

OK SO I ACTUALLY THINK I FIGURED OUT MY PROBLEM....
not enough rocks and no filler....
and to much sand or grit.
IM GOING TO TRY IT AGAIN NOW THAT I HAVE GRIT. fill it up 2/3full with rock and filler, then spray rocks with water and sprinkle on a few tablespoons of grit and let her go. I found out that the tumbler doesnt work well when its not filled up to atleast half way or more....and mine wasnt besdes the sand....lol.....
SO KNOW I HAVE THE GOOD STUFF AND IM OFF....ILL LET YOU KNOW WHAT I FIGURE OUT in a day or two i should know if it operating like my other tumbler.
