Meh, I suppose I may have been somewhat hasty. I hear whay you all are saying but I stand by my statement of just pretending he is not here anymore.
We all make mistakes, I know that. Say a friend punches you in the face... there's some pain and a shiner but that heals up, stupid mistake. Threatening to sue / actually suing somebody hurts their bank account and their family's well being. Even for suits that go noplace, the defendant still has hefty legal fees that can't be recouped most times. That's where my issue is. I still don't buy that it came out wrong... how does threatening and who's next? and i will sue you, come out wrong?
In short, la di da, all's well, hugs and whatever.

OOoooooo What I would like to see is a closer picture of the bail of the first rock. Looks cool!!! LOL, Julie, your reply is priceless! Reading it, I had to picture in my mind a harmless child picking flowers from a battlefield! ;D Jim, we have a word here: "the mistake which is admitted is half forgiven". But, in this wonderful place, I think we might fully forgive them, ain't it? Good luck in using and perfecting your bail system. Let us know about how it goes please. Adrian

Perhaps this will show just how well you have all been duped. Yes, you all accepted his apology, even Dennis. Now make your own decisions. Here is the message I received from the so humble and apologetic Jim. rockitman Misunderstood Rock Expert

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ya know I didn't figure it out at first. And might not have if you hadn't mentioned the difference. You sent Dennis up the river dude. I had ya going good didn't I? And you blew it. Ya know I am very sorry for messing with all those other folks. But I sure am glad I got your goat. I don't know what you two were planning on doing with my design but I sure thank you for letting me know your trying to steal it. What the hell did he tell you? That he made them? Or was the whole scam up front between you two? Well if you thought you could get away with it you have blown that slim chance. You were a fool in the first place. Get your xxxxxx copy of my picture off of there and put up an apology for using my design. I will leave it alone. GET IT? Ya know I damb near sent you an apology like I did a lot of others. But there was something about the photo. Thanks for the answer. Back to Top Logged

For those that have been following this..........Jim sent me a pm yesterday saying that there never was a patent, that he was just messing with everyone here (yes I still have the pm).
He is now harassing my Dennis accusing him of stealing his design. He sent a message similar to the one he sent to Rogue above, except its even nastier.
I believe in keeping these things private normally but this member is messing with us all. I am so upset I could just cry right now.

OK patent or no patent i say let the court decide if you post something on a public forum expect people to copy it end of story
the threats and harassment have to stop rockitman cool out on the Pm's, I'm sure if you stop it will all blow over ,

I just don't understand why anyone would want to copy it. I still don't find it attractive.
I've got to think it's a tempest in a teapot. Since nobody will copy it, it's a non-issue.

The saddest part is that applying for a patent is the best way to get the attention of Asian knock-off artists. Six hours after this thread was posted the first batch of crimp wraps was completed in a sweat shop in Hong Kong. You can probably pick them up for a couple bucks a piece in Times Square by now.

Fully agree, 10Thumbs, that was my point too, when i said this a few pages before: "PS. If I'd be you, I wouldn't be concerned so much about the few of us here .... , but more about some of the 1.3 billion people living in the country where almost all things are MADE IN nowadays. ... !"

I have been playing around with "rocks" for more than 50 years and groove wraps were being done back then, I think I saw my first in Lapidary Journal around '55. As far as his claim for his frog closure goes I think there is more hope there than reality. I have in my possesion right now two closure/compression tools I used in the aerospace industry for years in making connections or splices in cables or connecting wire to cable connectors. I still have a lot of "frogs" left, mostly silver or other noble metal. I fail to see how his tools could be any different from the tremendous number of tools already available. Jim
