Oh my GOSH! My friends just left my home and I am still shaking in my boots and speechless!!! They went to Rainbow Ridge a few weeks ago and told me that they had hit the Jackpot...but it was more like the POWERBALL. Much more than I expected. Be sure to have bibs ready. I had to change my shorts after they left ;D This was out of a $500.00 load. Pics don't do these justice. Many, many limbcasts like these. Fire throughout! An amazing piece that was valued at $7,000. An AMAZING PineCone. The mine owner wouldn't put a value on it as they are so rare. Full of Fire! A 1lb. 6 oz limb filed in with Precious Opal! AMAZING IN PERSON! THE JACKPOT!!! Even the Mine owner stated he doesn't even have anything this nice in his own collection. Valued at over $10,000.00!!!! This is almost 2lbs of Breathtaking Beauty. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. This isn't even a portion of what they had. Steve

Tell me about it Shannon and Dennis! I am still shaking. I've never held Opal that big....especially that big petrified wood piece. It is valued at so much due to the fact it has it all...conk and black opal on the end. It's a museum piece no doubt. They want me to write up an article about this find, get it published in R&G and just to have a documentation of this find. I think they got there 500 bucks back! Steve

Good googley moogley! I thought my buddy had scored big off one of those unexamined scoops. Bet the owners close the mine for a bit to work that section out. Beautiful specimens!.....Mel

I am speech-less! Any word of superlative would do unjustice to those treasures.

Well, I know I would never have seen anything like these had you not shared. Never knew Petrified Pine Cone could contain Opal. This is a wonderful treat and a feast for the eyes.
Now I have to mop up my keyboard. lol

Ken, Rainbow Ridge is in northern Nevada up by Denio. More than one fee dig there but this is the one where my buddy Tom scored big a couple of years ago. You do need to reserve the expensive unexamined scoops though as they only sell a few a day. You'll want to phone them first and find out how everything works. Lots of other great rocks in the area too....Mel
