HI Gang, here is the revised link to photobucket version of my cabbing tutorial. I wrote this little cabbing tutorial recently and posted it over on LA Rocks group website; using a montana agate for the exercise. Pretty basic oval, showing how to use an aluminum scribe to set the girdle height, and then using to scribe to help spot flats on the cab while you are cutting and shaping the dome. Im no great expert cabber by any stretch, but I had fun doing the series. s17.photobucket.com/albums/b71/ThomasClark/cabing%20tutorial/?albumview=slideshow

It doesn't work. Firstly it requires a yahoo ID (which not everyone might have) and then it directs me to the LA rocks membership. Pretty complicated, I think you had in mind something more simple.

Thanks for showing us your tutorial. I enjoy watching/reading these as I learn something every time. I really like the idea of scribing the cab with the al pencil to show flat spots.

Thank you for the tutorial, it is so clear and helpful. Drawing those scribe marks for detecting the flat spots is a great idea.

That is really cool to watch! I don't have the equipment to cab, so I don't do this, but it was sure cool to watch it anyways! Marie

Tom: You put a lot of thought and effort into that tutorial, thank you! The scribe marks are a great idea, as the doming is still something I struggle with, thanks again for a nice tute! Amber

julietom Can you post a direct video or photos? I gave up Photobucket when they ruined all of our posts a few years ago. I would be really interested to see your process.
