Being a pet groomer I see all sorts of ridiculous things......dogs in strollers, dogs in bikinis, dogs that own their own pets (I kid you not). But when we took our little dog to Glass Buttes with us and it was SO cold that she literally vibrated in her kennel each night, I caved in and got her a couple of sweaters/coats. Laugh all you want, but when Im standing there in my cozy jacket and my pup is standing at my feet shaking, there's just something wrong with that. Im really cold blooded so I cant stand the thought of someone/something being cold! I draw the line at pink sweaters though. My dog WILL NOT wear pink!!! I tried to find something as cool as possible, like skulls! She appreciates the warmth of the sweater and wears it daily. The coat however......... Well......if looks could kill, I would be dead! That is SO funny. The last pic is classic!! I didn't know jackets were made for dogs, just sweaters.

Hah! Man that last pic is funny! Ain't hard to guess what's going through the doggies mind. Don't look like it's very appreciative of the warm duds *L*.....Mel

She just doesnt know whats good for her Mel LOL
fishenman.......good lord you should see the clothes they make for dogs. Hoodies, dresses, bathrobes, slippers, lifejackets, leather bikerwear, bikinis, full body down parkas, doggie goggles for their eyes.........if they make it for humans, they make it for dogs. Most are ridiculous.......Ive seen $100 dresses for dogs on ebay. Handmade/custom made etc. My dogs usually have a coat of some kind, a backpack so they can carry their own food and stuff on backpacking trips, thats about it. One of the dogs on the Glass Butte trip cut her foot on Obsidian so I considered the little booty things to protect her feet.....but so far the only ones Ive found are pink!!! No way.

Oh......I would like to add that in no way does Dennis condone the use of doggie coats........he says Im turning her into a grandma dog LOL. Oh come on honey, at least the coats have skulls on them instead of knitted reindeer and snowflakes. It could be worse. shan

LOL!
I've used the booties before. One of the lakes I liked to take my lab/newfie mix to had a giant asphalt parking lot you had to cross. At 100 degrees, it hurt his feet...and he weighed way to much for me to pick him up and carry him to the truck! After the first day of creating a walking path for him out of towels (and wasn't THAT fun), I purchased the booties. As a plus, they also helped keep the stickers out of his hairy paws!

The look on that babie's face looks like the same one I get from my old and cranky dachsund, snuggles, when I scold her, or I give her something she would rather not eat!! LOL Animals are sooooo funny sometimes! Cute! Marie

Oh, way funny! My Weim goes insane when the dog next door comes out wearing clothes, she just can't seem to understand the whole fashion scene But---dogs have fur coats to begin with----so why do they act cold outside?! Nona

Nona,
I always ask myself the same thing.......but I suppose its like me. I can be dressed in three layers like the Michelin man and still be freezing. I guess some dogs are the same way LOL.

My last dog, Nicky, was a greyhound ... Greyhounds have next to zero body fat, and their fur might as well not even be there, it's so short and thin. I bought a cover for him that worked just like the blankets they use for race horses. He loved it, and even looked like a racer in it. Well, crud, now I'm missing him again. Oh, well. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Tom

About now all I can think of is Snowdog's pictures of his namesake - covered in snow, enjoying the shade!

Our dog, a Portugeuse Water Dog, has not only yellow boots for hiking, but also camo boots. He does quite well in the cold, but rocky ground hurts his webbed feet. We do not let him out of the rig at Glass Buttes without boots. BTW, I just love that last photo LOL! Woody

That last pic sure goes with the skull. But it is still a hoody. C'mon, Shan. Give the pooch a break.

Todd,
We are the ones that have to listen to her cry when she gets cold. She will just have to live with the coat LOL

Ok Shan, she obviously likes the sweater better than the hooded thingy so if you don't want to get that evil eye anymore, stick with the hoodless outerwear. Jo
