Well, we had the move in date all set for Wednesday, then they delayed it because they found termites at the crawl space entrance and it had to be treated. That delayed us till Friday. Then on Thursday we are told the well did not pass inspection. The UV system had failed and had to be replaced so they had to treat it with chlorine and then wait 72 hours so now the signing for the house is scheduled for Monday at 3. I guess it is a good thing for the delays. At least everything is getting taken care of so we won't have to worry about it when we move in and we did have everyone lined up to help us move today but well, this storm came through. 8 inches of snow last night with another 12 expected today and 3-5 tonight...I tried to go to the post office a few minutes ago and after digging the car out and finally getting to the road, there were cars sliding all over the place and as soon as I could get to a turn around on the main road well, home we came. If people are stuck and sliding on our main roads, they are not fit to drive on. Maybe the delay is a good thing because we would never have been able to get moved today. IT IS JUST SO FRUSTRATING!!! Anyone in the path of this one, well, it is pretty bad! They did say a crippling storm for the DC area and they are not kidding! It is on its way....slowly north east. I guess I will post pictures later, now that I found my camera in a box. OK, my grumbling is over, I am better now. Fran

It is coming down a bit harder now with bigger flakes. As long as the heat holds up, we are fine. This area is just not used to this much at once and my boys are here from Texas and of course, loving it right now. Fran

The pics. of your back yard look REALLY familiar ! I sure hope it lets off soon. When the crap started into the fan here I ran down to the big food store down the street and LOADED the wife's Blazer. She asked me what I I thought I was doing . I told her that after 20 years I was getting attached to her old cat and I considered it part of the family !
I didn't want have to resort to cannibalism !

Fran: Holy crap it is coming, we are all ready!!!! They are saying maybe 20 inches and the potential to be in the top 10 snowstorms. Sorry about your move, but you dont want to be moving in this, I will keep my fingers crossed for ya! Amber

Sure hope you guy's have a wood stove or a gas stove in the kitchen. With 20 inches you may run into a problem with the power. I sure hope the electric doesn't drop out on you ! Going out in that could be a matter of life or death under the right circumstances so it would probably be a good idea to just stay parked and wait till it all gets settled.
Hope you guy's have some good T.V. programming out there !

Wow. Thats a bunch of snow. It can be kind of nice if you can schedule it but it always comes when you need to do other things.

That is almost enough snow to go riding, but not quite.

Argh! Your pictures made me remember the 2.5 years we lived in Longmont, Colorado. I loved it, the rest of the family hated it! I could sit on my 2nd floor deck and see Long's Peak and several other lesser mountains in one direction, and the flats in the other direction. When it snowed (and oh, my! did it snow!) the kids and I had a blast. Even when we were snowed in with no electricity for 3 days. We had a "camp-out" in the basement with my Coleman stove to cook on and the fireplace to keep warm with! But I'll take South Texas any day. ;D Was out in the driveway today, in my T-shirt, working with the Expando. Musta been around 65 degrees with bright sunshine! Brrr! Tom

Well, the snow has stopped, the plows have been going through several times this morning and the sun is out and it is supposed to be a high near 30. Here are a few pics this morning. and from the kitchen window, here are some of the marshmellow looking cars Snow is blowing off of trees and roofs right now because there is a little breeze and it is still a fine powder. Now they are predicting more snow for Thursday. Maybe we will be all moved by then and just have the clean up here to get done. I do need to find my planters, BBQ and rocks that are in baskets under the snow in the back yard. That may take a bit of work. Fran

Oh, I'm jealous! All the snow went north of us (and not that far north, either). My sister still has about a foot on the ground out at her place (northwest of me), but I just have mud. I think you're absolutely glad you didn't move in when you thought you were going to!

I sure am glad we didn't move in then! They called it a blizzard but only once it was going for awhile. We made it out to the new house and got stuck in a ditch when we missed the driveway (Right as I told my husband, watch out for the ditch and he said Huh? as we hit it). Neighbors came to our rescue and a guy with a small tractor went up our new drive and started clearing up there after pulling us out of the ditch and then another neighbor with a plow did the main drive for us. They are glad someone is finally moving in so it was kind of nice meeting some of the neighbors. I think the first chore will be marking where the drive way is for my husband ;D Fran

That's pretty cool Fran! Meeting the neighbors in an adventure, bonding in a time of need!
You guys will be able to share stories for years to come about when you were supposed to move in. Now your husband... well that might just become one of those neighborly kind-of lengend nickname kind-of thing! ;D

Wow Fran, what a very warm neighborly welcome on a very cold day. It's lousy you got stuck in a ditch but boy it sure looks like you made the right move. Congrats on your new home.

The papers are signed, we unloaded the first two cars full of boxes and changed the locks. Tomorrow is a big move day with the Uhaul and at some point, we are going to have to dig out our stuff in the back yard. Maybe a little more snow will melt by tomorrow, well, mayb. Fran
