Hi All!!!
Lately I have been trying to shed that icky winter feeling you get when you just don't get the amount of sun needed for silly and happy behavior!
Last evening, as I continue going through boxes and bags of rocks, rocks, and more rocks of rufffff ;D in my attempt to start getting cutting batches together (I miss working with my UV-10) and lots of tumbling rough put together; I started to giggle about how well I can pack a box of leather scraps.
I am now making the leather available again and all I ask is the medium flat rate fee of $10.20 as this is the new fee the USPS charges me. As usual, if you could process it through PayPal as a gift I would really appreciate it. My PayPal is vh122006@hotmail.com
If and/or when you decided you want some, send me a PM so I know to go look and get the box started. If I check PayPal early enough in the evening, the box will go out the following morning. Since this is a medium flat box, it is a Priority box and you should get it within 2-3 days.
I look forward to catching up and getting back to cutting, slabbing, tumbling, and wrapping. Woooooooooof!

Awesome! For anyone who isn't familiar with what Julie does here, she works for a company that makes custom leather upholstery from fine leather. The company would be throwing these scraps away, but Julie has rescued the leather and has been kind enough to offer it to us for just the cost of shipping. RTHers have used it for many things. Pouches, pendants, polish pads, packing material, and much more I can't think of at the moment. Maybe Julie will be kind enough to post a pic so those who are new to RTH can see what she is offering.

Sands, there's a couple thicknesses to the leather I received. None of it's as thick as the hardened sheaths people buy to carry on belts, but I think it could be adapted quite easily for a sheath. It's really neat stuff - all sorts of colors, shapes, sizes.

Hi All!!!! Since some new ones here will not know me ... it is probably a good idea for me to post some pictures so you can get an idea of what these leather scraps are like. This leather is quality leather purchased from companies such as Veteran and Lindsey Hall. The pieces can be anywhere from 6" - 12" to and upwards of 3-4 feet (maybe larger). I have colors ranging from burgundy, black, browns, reds, blues and on rare occasions white and green. Some of these pieces can be perforated, embossed, or have special patterns that were specific to cars that were special releases. Dependent upon what the original hides were purchased for and/or if there were any problems, blemishes, and/or errors in cutting, sewing, and assembly of kits (front seat kits, rear seat kits, full interiors, etc.), the leather will differ from hide to hide. Certain pieces are stiffer than others... however all pieces have that very soft underside. The following pictures are of the contents of one (1) 18 gallon Rubbermaid container. I have dumped it out and have around my recliner and an extended measure at 6 feet for a point of reference. Right now I have the equivalent of 5 of these containers in my house and in my car. There are several bags still at work I need to bring home. I pay nothing for the leather and that is why I do not charge for the leather. As I stated in a previous post, for a time there I charged nothing as I really love giving it away so it can be used instead of wasted. Due to rough financial times for me ... all I ask is the price of postage for the flat rate box. So .... no money is going into my account.

Julie,
I just paypal'd you for a box of leather, I am going to use it for polishing pretty stuff. When I receive it, I will wait a while and most likely order more, but want everyone else to get a chance to get some too. Take care and thanks... Brad

Hi All!!!
I am not sure how thick or stiff leather needs to be for sheaths as I don't know squat about sheaths.
I do have some of the leather that is pretty stiff.
What I can do for those that may be interested, I can make up little sample cards like we do at work. I can cut 1"-2" pieces and glue them to a piece of card stock and mail them regular mail.
This way you can see the colors I am getting at intervals and the grades and thicknesses. The colors and thicknesses are batch related, so what I may get some weeks may not have certain grades and thicknesses. If there are special pieces you like, I can set those pieces aside and mail a box when I get full boxes. It's up to you guys!
You guys tell me what you think and we will let it rip from there!
Also ... is it my imagination (it has 2-3 months since I have sent out boxes) or are these medium flat rate boxes getting smaller. I am little miffed this evening (at the USPS) as ... as I am cramming my famous amounts of leather into these boxes, I am thinking I cannot cram as much into them as I used to.
I want these babies to POP when you cut the tape! ;D
Enjoy!!!

Is there any leather that is untreated or not dyed? I would use it to make toys for our parrots! Donnie

Brad .... glad you liked it!! If you want more, I have oodles ...
Muhammed ... Send me a PM with your physical address. I will say this ... since this is an international shipment, the medium flat rate fee is going to be more. I have done them in the past and it works great with Priority. BUT ... I feel really bad about the rates for international as this leather has no commercial value. If you have family in the US that I can send it to and they can forward it to you with anything else they would be sending to you, I would feel much better. But if you want it, it's up to you.
These are the estimations of international flat rate fees (for anyone else internationally that may want some). I got this from the USPS site.
Priority Mail Flat Rate International Options (Retail Prices): the first rate is for Canada & Mexico and the second rate is for all other countries.
Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope* (up to 4 pounds) $11.45 $13.45 12-1/2'' x 9-1/2'' Priority Mail Small Flat Rate Box* (up to 4 pounds) $11.45 $13.45 8-5/8" x 5-3/8" x 1-5/8" Priority Mail Regular Flat Rate Box (FRB-1) (up to 20 pounds) $26.95 $43.45 11" x 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" Priority Mail Regular Flat Rate Box (FRB-2) (up to 20 pounds) $26.95 $43.45 13-5/8" x 11-7/8" x 3-3/8" Priority Mail Large Flat Rate Box (up to 20 pounds) $33.95 $55.95 12" x 12" x 5-1/2"
Let me know ...
Julie
