Out on one of the job sites today (building 3 garages) I picked up a cool looking black rock. It turned out to be slag, the job site was on the site of an old foundry. Anyhow, my buddy (who was also in charge of this particular job) says "you should take it home and polish it). Well, I did. I'm gonna give it to him tomorrow to give to his wife Shawna (along with the remaining rock) ;D Oh, and this is one of my smallest pieces of work, I added the pocket change for size comparison. Check it out......

Haha, I love that story! Did you say it was called "slab"? Hey Randy, that rock looks like it has a little purple in it. (toward the bottom)

I mean't to type slag, it was a piece of old slag glass. As far as I can tell, it's solid black. The purple is probably a reflection from something else. This one shined up really good!

Very cool Randy-do you really carry mercury head dimes in your pockets? ? kj Yep. The Morgan dollars were too noisy with the clanking and all.

Yep, I didn't realize that he had never seen any of my work before. All he really knew was that I "cut rocks". I'm sure that tomorrow he'll tell me what his wife thought. I know his wife (and kids) too, really cool people!

You always do a beautiful job even is it is slage glass. Kinda like junk into jewelery. It is very very nice. We also like the coins, lots of old coins, and lots of new ones. Debby & Tom

Yeah, new coins are cool too. I cashed in $1,000 in state quarters not too long ago. It was fun saving them, but I decided that 3 of each was plenty. I'm mostly into old American silver, especially Morgans. I think they're the coolest looking coin ever struck.

Randy, I have several Morgans from New Orleans, San Francisco, Denver, Carson City and Philadelphia. I have several Peace Dollars from 1921 on. I like the Morgan dollar more then the Peace dollar. I have lots of the Ike, SBA, and sack dollars, and the new Pres dollars. I like the older ones better. My wife make me lock them up because they clank. I hardly have room in my safe for all my guns and gem stones. Tom & Debby

Tom, time to get a bigger safe then huh? I mean you gotta have room for more gem stones and what about the poor precious cabs and specimens? :-)
