*L* I suspect Curt is another guy who hates cats. Since I, like most wildlife biologists, see domestic cats as a plague upon the earth, I prefer the name ALPO *W*....Mel

But Mel, We have two Feral Cats. They came to us as tiny Kittens, and have not set foot outdoors since that time. They have been fixed, have all their shots, and watch from an inside perch. I agree with you otherwise. I absolutely love cats. Dogs, phooey. However, I know of the damage they can reap. Our cats will never see the wild. We serve, and obey. They are our buddies. To have a cat, feral or otherwise, undertakes a serious responsibility. We had a temporary cat. KiKi, sir Barfs a lot. He had been declawed, fixed, chipped, and tossed. His humans brought him from Cali, to here in Floriduh. He was almost dead when we brought him in. Fleas like no tomorrow, worms, everything. When he ate, he puked every other meal. He was a beautiful Tuxedo Cat. We got him cleaned up, he started going alpha on us, and the Ferals we have were ready to kill him. We then found an home for him, where he is still to this day. Fat, content, and likes to sit on laps. I am still finding barf around the house from almost a year ago! Ralph, and Muffy have gotten over it, KiKi is still alive, and no Kittens. Good luck with that Blue Tabby. They are almost as much of a companion as Red Tabbies. Our cats do not sleep with us. They lay next to us, and stare at us all night. Just as well, our bed is not that large.

Well, after a few weeks living in the RV with a cat box, you might want to call him "Stinking Water" ..... sorry, I couldn't resist.

LOL, this thread is too funny. Thanks for the ideas everyone, whether we end up with this little guy or another, we now have some good names to choose from. Mel...I totally understand your point. Our cat will be strictly indoors and even if it were to escape, it would never get the chance to cause chaos in the world because there are so many coyotes where we live.....would be dead by morning. Shannon PS-Flint is my favorite so far.

I admire folks who know that "house cats" belong in the house. Better for the kitties and better for all the wildlife they'd otherwise slaughter.....Mel

Mel, I can assure you, our cats are a pain. We love them, but they are a pain. Before we can go anywhere, we have to have a sitter for them. The sitter has to be approved by the cats. We are lucky, our contractor who worked on the house has sat with them while we went to school, took outside classes etc... They like him. When he is here, they go and take a nap. Our house is designed around their needs. Our bathroom is completely tiled. We can clean up their litter area with a mop. Ralph only goes in his box, Muffy goes in the box, and then sprays the walls. All tile, no worries. Our trim is dimensional lumber. They sharpen their claws on the bookshelves, trim, when they go too far, it is a simple matter of cutting another bookshelf, or piece of trim. No need to discipline the cats, no special wood recquirements. We have gone to the West Coast with them. Where a person can go to an hotel and then go out, we have to call out for Pizza. Fortunatly Hotel 6 allows cats. The one time we left to go eat, we came back to a crowd around the room! The curtains were down, and the cats were screaming! We left them! As soon as they saw us, they calmed down, but wow! We fixed the curtains, fixed the beds, they tore off the sheets, blankets, and trashed the room! From there on, we did not leave the cats. Before we left, we got them a full compliment of shots, vaccinations, everything up to date. Cats are a responsibility. You can never forget that. Today, they watch the birds from the window. They are too lazy to catch anything. Neither of them likes wet food either! Being Feral, they like Purina Kitten Chow. High protein. They eat small meals, all day. Ralph is 35lbs. Not too many people come in either. We all like it that way. We have a Vet that is very sensitive to them. He is a joy to go to, and he and his wife love our cats. He pokes, prods, give shots, and they do not mind at all. Amazing. We are fortunate. Not too many like him. Our cats have full claws, teeth, and their own windows! They are a joy. It is just us and them. Phooey on the others. They are both 9yrs now. The breed we traced them to lives 15yrs. We hope we can stretch it out. When we go outside, we can hear them howl for quite a distance! When we come back in, they walk away, then turn their backs on us! They are characters.

I had a cat I named Dog once. He was a character! He kept getting pushed out of the way when I was in the chair by Girl, his sister. Girl was fond of tripping me down the driveway. I trained Dog to sit up and bark! He was not happy doing it but he did it. I would call him a bad dog, and he would go oooooow, and put his paws infront of his face. He was my buddy. Big, heavy, and loyal to the core. We rescued Dog, Girl, and Toad from a junkyard. They were so young, we had to nurse them for a week. We got artificial mother's milk for cats. It was a pain but worth it. My son had them trained to not eat untill he said OK! Then, make sure you know where your fingers are.

What happened to the cat name did I miss where you named it.Doc you crack me up sometimes. I had a dog that I named kitty cat, wife wanted a cat I hated cats so we went to pound and I picked her out a cat dog lol. She was part welsh corgi not very cat like at all thought she was the baddest dog on the block hated all dogs loved cats to a passion. Two or three weeks after we got kitty someone planted a dieing baby kitten under my car. I found it meowing at me as I got in the car to go to work, took it in to the wife and told her it may not make it through the night do what you can for it. When I got back home that morning it was asleep at the top of her head. Darn thing spent the next 28 years sleeping there every night I kid you not. Darn cat hated me for sure liked to attack my feet while I slept. Hershey was never sick till the day she died. We found her life mate in a Dumpster(Named him pepe' la pue, pepe for short) about a year after her arrival he too lived about 28 years he is the reason I like cats now.He was a great watch cat hated all company so he knew when someone was coming before the dog he would go into a panic looking for a place to hide it was funny. He looks like a smokey!!! Soooo cute!
Man now that Tony moved in with his cat we are having serious issues, my cat seems to be a little territorial, but his cat is just scared to death and afraid to come out of our bedroom, I never had so much trouble getting cats to accept one another, 2 females, go figure, LOL, I am wondering how long a cat is going to live in my bedroom!

Well, fast forward to now. Doggy is gone, Girl is gone, my Asian Leopard Cat, Ralph, he gave us his name, is a strange fellow. He starts yowling, he then goes up the highest thing he can find, and projectile vomits! Most cats are on the floor, then up comes the hairball, and lunch or whatever. Not Ralph. He has to go almost to the ceiling, and hurl 5 to 10ft away. Just hope you are not in front of where he is aiming. We removed the book shelf abouve the bed.
