I'm sure like any rock there's 20 names for the same stone depending on who dug it LOL. Years ago the original "fire obsidian" used to be called Fire, that was until they found the mateial they are cutting now days, so the older material is now being called peacock. As said, personally I've seen this material called flame, but it could very well be another name since it is so close to the fire pits. I know just like the fire, this red ribboned material is just about as hard to find good pieces. Heck at Glass Buttes who knows what you'll find. I've found rainbow near the midnight lace pits, found lace like material in the pumpkin patch and more LOL. Sheesh crazy glass!!

Speaking of lace, you have any dual flow black and clear midnight lace to sell, trade, barter, whatever? I want some for knapping a few blades. Or at least trying.... I'm not that good yet... Thanks! Mike, The outside has a white crust that resembles a calcium buildup like you would have on your faucet. Jason, From my obsidian references they say Flame Obsidian is another name for Fire Obsidian; however, those sources do not list a Red Ribbon Obsidian as a variety, either? ?? Bob The white crust on obsidian is usually perlite — a hydration crust that can be used to date the material. That material is pretty. Putting it on the list....
