Hi Susan, Just thinking about your field trip & getting Fire Agate ~ I just love cutting that stuff it's so pulsating ~ a few years ago I took a plane 4,000 miles just to dig in the shale beds for Ammolite in Calgary, Alberta, Canada ~ I'd jump a plane in a heart beat just to go with ya'll ~ I was injured 5 months ago on the job & tore out both my knees & my right shoulder too & sporting this cute brace on my left foot-but other then that I'm in great shape ~ just staying home is driving me up a wall~ I look at my machines & I'm just not in the mood ~ but I still buy rock~ I love the hobby ~when I'm able to walk again with out getting tired~ I will go on my field trips again. Take Care All & Becareful, Slim

I'll also voice an interest in a fall trip. I'd love to go in May, but have already made commitments for every weekend.

I vote for a crystal hunt up by Payson or fire agate trip down south. The only thing is I am pretty heat sensitive so I cringe at being south during summer. Payson should be beautiful during the times mentioned though. (I also know of some geode beds near Diamond Point)

So far we have; 1. Bagdad 2. Payson 3. Round Mountain or a similar fire agate field
and
1. Memorial Day 2. Sometime in fall (isn't Labor Day in the fall?)
Maybe we should put it to some votes and/or add to this list?

Thats sounds good Mike, Your geode beds are my gedoe beds. lol I know of a small mountain of them about 1/4 mile from my cabin. Its a hike in though. I am down for both a Spring and fall trip, to whereever. And i agree with you, though i live down here in the desert. and love the summer(for the lack of snowbrids), you wont find me doing much hounding here then, outside of my own piles.

I'm going to be there for a couple of rockhounding days in mid May. It sounds like this may not work out well for others for a field trip, but I'd really like some suggestions. I've been to Saddle Mountain and the Perkinsville Road.

I'm thinking we better plan this trip a little further in advance. Maybe more of us could join in? Bumping this thread for further discussion.
I'll be going SOMEWHERE this Memorial Day, just not sure where. S

I thought I'd bump this up again to see if anyone is still interested in a rockhounding trip. I have put in for an entire week off, from May 20th to the 28th...might be driving to the Chicago/Wisconsin area to see my mom and brother, and would love to meet up with Earthdog, Takila and/or Michiganrocks if I do so, but might not be able to. If gas prices go any higher, I'll be staying home. working on my house (BORING!) or doing something within the 4-Corners area (AZ, UT, CO, NM or maybe TX).
As far as I know, Condor is the only one who has still expressed interest in a Memorial Day weekend trip. Where are you BAZ and Shain? And what about you, Banjo? S

Hey Susan,
I am "in between jobs" right now (okay, trying the self employment thing again!) so I am pretty sure I could head out for a couple of days for a trip. 4-Corners sounds good and AZ sounds better! Hee hee!

If a plan is made with a set date and place. Then i can say for certain if i will be in or out. However, Memorial days is not looking good now. I promise that when i plan a trip in the coming month, i will post the details and envite all. I been really wanting to get back up and explore the Jasper fields near Black Canyon Lake. I have been there only twice in my adult life, and you only needed to pick up rocks to pick up jasper. And there some nice Obicluar i have seen collected from there. BUt it also may be busy on Memorial Day, becasue its a great palce to camp.

If it is a weekend in May, I just might be able to justify treating myself to an airplane ticket. Keep me posted.

i know this would be impossible to do..because of so many issues..but i have a bad habit of typing my thoughts sometimes...wouldnt it be nice if you had say 40 RTH members that pitched in $3.00 a month over the course of a year...thats $1440...that may just get 3 or so RTH members..there and back home... that probably would never have a chance to get to a place like NM....i know..i know..there are major issues with my thoughts today...but wouldn't that be great.

Those are nice thoughts though Kevin, no matter how you look at it. Mark, I might just as well be in the UK for my chances of getting down there so I'm with you, we'll need pics and lots of them!
