I got it :-) it's counterclockwise to remove the nut. Took some WD40 soakings but it broke loose.
Any recommendations on a new blade? It's a 10 inch and the old blade that is now very bent says Lopacki.
Thanks, Michael

bumping with a question -
Does the belt need to be removed to lift the lid all the way - enough to get the pan out?
Picked one of these up off craigslist recently and just getting around to messing with it. Hood wad broken, ordered a new one today from Kingsley North. I would like to get the table lifted to see about cleaning the saw up for painting, just not sure if it's the belt holding the table down or if the hinge is the problem.
Thanks!

Undo nut in the front and pop off the belt to lift the lid....if I remember correctly. Cheers

Thanks Andy! Figured the belt needed to come off but wasn't 100% sure.

Following with interest. Several months back I bought an original Lyman 10" with power feed. It's identical to the Raytech. John had a NOS lid sitting on the shelf which he let me have at a real good price. (Thanks John). The previous owner of my saw brazed an L shaped piece of metal to the vice which fits under the lid. This prevents the vice from trying to ride up when making max depth cuts. He also cut a small notch at the rear of the vice travel to allow removing the added piece of metal from the blade slot.
I need to order all new rubber seals, but otherwise mine is in excellent shape.

Lyman is the parent company of Raytech. Most Lyman products now are firearm related but the UV lights, tumblers, etc. all had Lyman labels under the Raytech when I was a dealer.

Still in the process of refurbishing my Raytech 10 saw and have a question not worth starting a new thread for - I need to find the self stick rubber stripping that goes on the bottom of the saw table between the table and the box holding the oil pan. Kinda like a window weather stripping, but not quite. Anyone know the "official" name for this stuff and where I might find it? The black rubber rectangle shaped thing. It's just over 1/2" wide and I need a almost 4 feet of it. Thanks!

Check your local hardware store. It comes in various widths & thicknesses. It comes rolled up in a sealed plastic bag & should be at least 10' long. It's self sticking & will have a peel of strip on one side. Make sure to clean all of the oil off your saw table, or else it won't stick.
If your hardware store doesn't have the right size, check self stick weather stripping on ebay.
When you put the gasket on, cut it about 1/8" longer than needed. If stretched when putting it on, it will shrink back & leave gaps at the corners.

Thanks Don, I've never seen weather stripping like this at Home Depot. I'll check what they have on hand, but I imagine that I'll need to search further. Good point about going long due to shrinking once applied. It will be clean alright, all the parts are out getting powder coated. Gonna be a new saw when I'm done.

captbob, It's sold for sealing between camper shells & truck bed lip and other uses. I'm sure I bought some from Homer. Lynn

Topper tape / seal(ing) tape
That's the name I needed - we have a winner!
Thanks Lynn

Most good industrial supply stores sell Neoprene Rubber in sheet form. At one local to us they sell it by the linear foot for less than $1 per square foot. It comes in rolls. I buy the 1/8" thick material for making seals (although the 1/4" might work better for the gap between the Raytech reservoir and saw table). With this you can make your seal in one-piece so there's no leaking at corner tape joints. If you're in a rural area where there are no industrial supply stores then you can buy it online too. The company at the following link sells an 80"x24"x1/8" sheet for $15.99 or the same size 1/4" thick sheet for $20.99. www.thefoamfactory.com/closedcellfoam/neoprene.htmlThis material is also good to use as a work mat for metal smithing tables. It's tough enough to protect the table surface and resist tearing and the surface is smooth enough that silver and gold filings won't stick to it so it's easy to collect and save the filings from after each work session. Hi, I recently purchased a used Raytech 10" slab & trim saw, and I'm having trouble with the power feed. The half nut assembly is not clamping tight enough to move with the power feed screw. The previous owner placed a small bit of plastic under the cam to tighten it further, but I'm not getting that to work for me. Should I replace the half nut assembly? If so, does anyone know where I can get one.
Thanks, Dan T.

Got tired of that so I ordered the new brass clutch assembly for Scott Enterprises yesterday, $75. The threads on the Brass clutch eventually wear out and it stops working, both the feed screw threads and the threads for the tightening bolt. Here's a contact for Rick Scott, whom I have dealt with a couple of times. He is in Denver, phone 303-807-6942 rick8260.wixsite.com/raytechsaw
