Way cool find...I went out today to look for some rocks but the darn snow falling made them impossible to see!!

Yeah Db , Its been in the seventies , last three days. 70 now , supposed to be 29 tonight, 40 tomorrow . Last falls leaves are still a problem here, covering the rocks, have`nt had a quick heavy rain to wash them away .

The chain is very nice. I can see good design possibilities - assuming it is not too rare to cut up.

Yeah Brian , that one is pretty much the same , it is chert matrix too . And Daniel , Halysites are not really rare . But lapidary grade quartz replaced ones like northshores and the one im showing are less common , especialy in a size that has more than one lapidary possibility . Most are fossil specimens that are not lappable . This is usually because of size and pitting of non consolidated mineral infill "matrix" . Halysites are different than most colony corals, in that the coralites where not all growing right next to each other , touching or fused on all sides , like prismatophyllum "petoskey stone" or like the indonesian coral that you are familiar with . so it is more unlikely to find a solid one . ;D ;D

Tandl, that one is really amazing. Then again, it rarely fails to amaze me what you find up there in the frozen north!
